Things that I do not understand (ENG - SPA)

Actually, there are many but I am going to concentrate on Hive.

Less than 48 hours ago, the third anniversary of the creation of Hive was announced, that day when it was decided to bypass the Steem blockchain due to unclear decisions by its buyer, Mr. J. Sun. We all know that story to a greater or lesser extent.

A series of celebrations and mentions were announced on all social networks, some very heartfelt about thanks, praise and other subjective issues, but there was a specific one that included a PowerUp.

Additionally, some reviewed the achievements of web3, the enormous number of projects that add value day by day.

However, today I see with surprise that the Hive lost almost 10% of its price in this short period, despite the fact that the mother currency of all, the BTC, continues to rise, now perhaps at a lower rate, but it has not fallen.

For a period Hive accompanied the rise but now seems to have abandoned it.

What happened?

I looked for some convincing explanation within Leofinance and I didn't find anything, I don't want to say that there isn't, I just didn't find it.

Perhaps some of the more experienced and knowledgeable in our hive can say something about it.

I am not experienced at all regarding Hive, but even in the few months what I spent here, this was the 2nd or 3rd manipulation by speculators.

Obviously, it's done by purpose, just look at the volume. How BTC price actually driven by people from FIAT money world (banks, big corps, funds, billionaires driven up the price), the Hive price is manipulated by some of them time by time. I see it as a money, value sucking operation in every couple of months. Who does it? I have no clue. But my guess: alphabet agencies, billionaires, big tech companies (especially other soc media platforms), but lets be honest, even a relatively small speculator with few hundred millions can do it, and usually make 5-10% return within a day. Wouldnt you do the same with that amount? Probably yes.

Yes, the clever guys here, especially Hive insiders, big Hive holders (whose still nowhere compare to those who does it) somehow don't want, don't like to talk about it, prefer to fight vs. each other instead. Especially don't want to talk about stoping it, and how to stop it.

The best you can do, you count on it. Hold some Hive available for immediate trading when it next comes, as it definitely will. I still don't have that much, but I plan to do it. Go with the flow, follow these speculators, profit from them, if it pays off time by time again.

Thank you for your comments @pokermaria

Certainly, the market capitalization of Hive makes possible manipulation of the characteristics that you comment on, it is not the only coin that can be played with in that way, of course.

I am not comfortable with such speculative positions and I definitely do not have the capital to do so. Speculating about having money and obtaining benefits would be something insubstantial, which is why I don't even consider it.

I don't have that money ,neither. However, instead of powering up, i will keep 200-1000 HIVE for this purpose. It is always a pump an dumb 'event'.

And getting out that 5-10% within a day is good after any amount. And a day later I buy back Hive and power up the extra. Based on the last year, you could do it 6-7 times. That's like 30-60% return. So on a 1000 HIVE, you could earn 300-600 HIVE with almost zero effort. I hold that Hive anyway, just instead of power up, it will be liquid. Much better return than HBD savings, don't mention, I will power up the + immediately.

Not much a speculation from users point of view (or risk), just hold liquid till it comes, then if you see, the rest of the market dont move sell it with +5-10% and buy back a day later, as it keeps repeating itself, and once again it is always a pump and dump, never in the other direction.

It's all being done over at Upbit, the South Korean exchange. They pump&dump it every now and then; since there is like 70M Hive there it's the exchange with the biggest volume and thus they can drive the price. Unfortunately there isn't an easy solution to this as non South Koreans do not have access to the exchange and cannot move Hive off of there
