A Deadly Shadow.

I paused my main journey to investigate side missions, encountering a gas pump spirit threatened by a specter doppelganger. Despite multiple combat attempts, including defensive rooftop positioning and stocking up arrows, the powerful demon waves repeatedly overwhelmed me and forced me to abandon the quest.

Ignoring the main quest, I at last decided to check on some side missions that were scattered through the map. And at first I found this spirit of a lady at a gas pump.

The spirit said there was a doppelganger of her that was threatening her, and suddenly the nearby telephone started ringing. And after picking it up, I heard the doppelganger, the lady was talking about, listening to a distorted, eerie voice delivering warnings through the static line.

Right then, the doppelganger arrived at the spot and it looked like it was a specter that was telling the spirit it will never escape the devil. The air grew instantly cold as the shadowy figure manifested, scared the poor spirit.

Then suddenly, some demons came over to take the spirit away, so I had to stay back and fight them. I started attacking them immediately.

After taking some of the demons down, there came more and I noticed they were trying hard to take the spirit away. And while I was intervening to break their grip, I was taken down, completely overwhelmed.

I tried again at the restart. But it looked like they were too tough for me to take care of, and I was taken down again, my health dropping to zero as Akito was not eating anything to heal, I don't know why.

I climbed up on the roof of the store so I could avoid massive attacks, and I started attacking the demons from there. From this elevated point, I could safely fire downward without being constantly surrounded by the aggressive melee units on the ground.

But lack of my presence around the spirit, the demons took down the spirit which messed up with my mission once again. Without my physical interference on the ground level, the creatures successfully completed their ritual and banished the spirit.

I even bought enough arrows to take care of the enemies from afar at another restart, and I realized I was doing good this time, but I was taken down again, and I decided to give up this particular side mission, turning my back on the haunted location to look for easier objectives elsewhere on the map.
We'll continue in another post.

You stepped away from the main story line just to get targeted by a haunted gas station phone booth? It was brutal getting completely overwhelmed by the tough enemy waves.
Yeah, totally brutal. I need to get back to the main story.
Deciding to stock up on arrows before ultimately abandoning the quest was a smart place to call it. But what's the use of it if you still don't make it?
Correct. Sad.
I'd say, walking away from that haunted quest to look for easier targets was 100% right decision. For a moment, I was getting bored watching you dying over and over. It looked impossible for your character to take care of all those supernatural enemies at once.
I was also bored so I decided to try something easlier.
