Why is my Virgin-Hair so stubborn?

Growing up, I got to learn more about my virgin hair. FYI: Virgin hair is natural hair that hasn't been chemically processed and this term is also used for a type of 100% pure human hair weave. I use to struggle with my hair and people will call it "big" hair or just bluntly say "bushy head". Oh Yes, I get surprised by how generation Z is so fragile and one should be careful not to cause emotional damage with what we say to them. For millennials and baby boomers, we had it rough people would name you after the physical future you are least comfortable with.

I went to school with "tsetse fly, vinegar face, triangle head, Amoeba (cause of body shape), carrots legs, 1+1=11 (so bad in Maths), Nerd (because of eyeglasses), gap year (diastema/gap between the two upper front teeth), Kissing Knees (Knock knees), Batista (strongly built guys), Brace face and Jonny Bravo (protein powders and testosterone boosters addicts who skip leg day at the gym). It was normal to have silly nicknames and I had two: "big/bushy hair and the other one you will find out later. To make matters worse, my hair also had volume, making it appear big. But that is not my worry, what bothered me was its stubbornness and acting like it has superpowers to defy gravity.

No matter how big it got it would still resist bending down. It would just point North, East and West but never South. Sometimes I felt like it has double standards as it would rather grow towards the sky to reach out to aeroplanes and was not willing to have anything to do with my poor two feet and "no-name" shoes. But as it got bigger it became hard to maintain so I finally forced it to obey gravity with hair relaxers/chemical processing which straightens hair permanently. Unfortunately, there was a price to pay with that decision. I had to live out the moment "you gonna miss me when I'm gone" when I finally found out the good plan my virgin hair had for me which I never really appreciated. My big stubborn "Virgin hair" was trying to hide my ears, so it was too stubborn to lay flat.

After chemically processing my hair I was left with now my "big" ears - one always pointing East and the other West while all my hair faced South. My ears had no better life plans for me. They just look ready to hear what people are gonna say about my choice to relax my "big hair" and how they were now too exposed. The least my ears could do since they were now the problem was to filter what people had to say. But Nah! They were just camping there looking big enough to absorb every comment I got and send it to my brain to process it, then to my heart to question my brain on the decision it made. And the two will fight about why my brain thought it was a good idea to relax my hair.

As for people, the critic changed from "big hair" to now "big ears" or "satellite📡 ears" and that is when my brain knew it has messed up. I realised people are always gonna talk and some childish organ hiding in my chest will catch feelings. I had to learn to accept my "satellite ears" and got to acknowledge that my virgin hair understood the assignment during creation - Its main purpose was to balance out my ears and to hide them from people with low emotional intelligence.

I think most of us miss out on this assignment that our physical features have to do for us. Well, I now understand that the big forehead is meant to balance out the big nose or big eyes. The shorter height is meant to protect a fragile head from hitting anything above it or at least make the floor closer if one is to fall and the fragile head hit the ground. And shorter people have a low risk of cancer, so that's an advantage to living longer (Fact).

The taller height is to balance out big feet so one doesn't end up walking like penguins. Well, I'm not too sure about the "tall, dark & handsome" vs "short and cute" but I fully support the notion that dynamite comes in a small package😉. Short guys hold your head high because it could be that tall height was meant to make it easier to be spotted in the crowd in case "cuteness" got out of stock when one was still in the "good looks" queue during creation. Fair enough - taller people have a low risk of diabetes and heart disease. So that's an advantage to living longer (Fact).

Logically, big lips are to balance out cheeks and long faces to balance out the long neck. Our physical features are in sync and one doesn't have to learn the hard way like me to understand their purpose. So Folks - that physical feature that bothers you so much - is the way it is to serve its purpose and it is the cutest if you were to learn to embrace it yourself. I like how my satellite ears trap all the words and can even hear what is in people's minds and their internal whispers. I must admit they did a great job during COVID to secure face masks effortlessly, why was everyone complaining about their ears hurting from the mask? -Whuuuh! cry babies!😊

Upgrading from one nickname to the other, I must say your school got a lot of interesting students in it lol

Lol yes it did. And it wasn't only at school, even some insensitive adults in the community used to do that too.

They would give young ones random nicknames to either match their behaviour or the physical features that seem to stand out.😅

The people in your school were really good at giving names for things😅.

I have a very stubborn virgin hair too and I know why you were prompted to relax yours. But now that you've mentioned it, I don't think I'd be relaxing my hair anytime soon😅

Well it's not just in school, also community and some even got the nickname names from family members.

Please don't relax - just learn to manage it. But I'm sure your ears are not really big otherwise you would have found out by now.😅

Nah my ears are not big but my forehead is😅. It's not so big but it's not the regular. I'm proud of it tho 😅

That's exactly how it should be🥰. Our physical features really complement each other and people with high EQ are proud of theirs.

Maybe I should have included a disclaimer that this humour was written using the tone of people with low EQ who project their ignorance and insecurities on others. It is really not the author's views and one shouldn't take offense from this because .🤔😅

Oh yes we are✨

You really should have added the disclaimer 😅. Hope no one's on your neck tho

Your hair is doing you a favor! I have hair that stays down quite naturally, but every light breeze seems to blow a stray strand up my nose or into my eyeball! If I don't tie it back and put on a hat, I look like I'm trying to fight off a swarm of bees because I'm so busy moving stray hair away from my face!

Hahaha 🤭, you're hair is giving my brain another reason why it really messed up not appreciating the stubbornness of my hair.

I look like I'm trying to fight off a swarm of bees because I'm so busy moving stray hair away from my face!

I can imagine the fight 😅, at least it won't sting like bees.
