COVID STRIKES AGAIN : Another Surge of Covid Cases in Our Place

received_1525997007734403.jpeg

My mother, sister, and father all have jobs as healthcare workers. My father works as a Utility foreman now, my mother a hospital nurse, and my sister as a Medical technologist in the Molecular Laboratory, so it's safe to say that we are at a very high risk of contracting covid.

Weirdly enough, my mother and sister are not the most susceptible to the virus but my father. My father has to collaborate with people and has to talk to multiple workers in the day, which makes him very at risk of contracting covid.

The first time we had covid, the virus initially came from my father which he got from work. Which then infected all of us in the house. He really felt bad about it, and we did not know this, but he actually cried when he was talking to his friend because he felt guilty about infecting us.

Of course, we did not blame him because we all understood the risk of them working at the hospital. Now that it was over, we could finally breathe and relax, but can we?

Months after the outbreak of covid cases here in our place, people began to become more relaxed with everything. People did not wear masks or did not even follow basic health protocols.

People started partying and hanging out in the streets late at night as if nothing was going on in the world.

Now, another surge of covid cases can be observed. Our area alone, a very small barangay, had 85 active cases, the most out of every single barangay in our area. We made up about 60% of covid cases in our place.

I'm just happy that we have not contracted covid, and I hope we never do, because our classes have been starting, and I can't bear to take my classes in a quarantine area. I also don't want to be sad about leaving my dog to our neighbor because I know he will miss us a lot.

We recently acquired N95 masks to keep us safe from the virus, and my mother even bought washable suits to keep them even safer when they would go to work in the morning.

I just hate it when people are getting too comfortable with the situation. It's like a never-ending cycle of covid surges, and although it's okay for them when they contract covid because they can stay at their houses, it's such a hassle for us. Because we can't do that.

When we get positive, we get forced to leave our house and force us to go to the quarantine facility, which has very slow internet and is very uncomfortable.

I just wish this nightmare would be over soon.

Keep safe, everyone!

Same situation here. People are forgetting that we are still fighting with the virus and now more variant of the virus has spread world wide. Another wave may hit us again in the future but lets just pray it will never happen.

Right? When cases are down for just a bit, people think that we are getting back to normal, such a bad mindset. Keep safe always!

I heard our hometown too in Misamis Occidental is now on Alert level 3. Really sad about this because I feel like were back again to square 1.

Always stay safe with your family. 🙏

That's unfortunate to hear, yes a lot of places are now back to alert level 3, sigh. Thank you! Keep safe also.

That is really the problem, people tend to forget the threat. They go out even if its unnecessary. But I understand them, we all want to go to places. This is really hard situation for all of us. Hope this pandemic will end the soonest and we could go back to the old times before this pandemic started.

Yes, a lot of people want to go out because they want to go shopping or hang out with friends, they tend to forget the existence of covid. The best we can do is just to be responsible citizens and pray for the best. Keep safe always!

I am sorry about the first time you all go infected and I can imagine how dad felt knowing that it came through him. I am glad everything is fine now in your family.

About the resurgence, how about you guys getting vaccinated? I am sure this will put all of you in a better and safe position instead of living on wishes. What do you think? Will you discuss this with mum and Dad?

Yes, we are all vaccinated, but we are all still at very high risk of contracting covid, but they are doing their best to minimize the risk. Thank you for your concern and keep safe always!

They can still get infected, but the effects of covid won't be as severe. It only lessens the fatality rate.

Yes, taking safety precautions is key. I hope you're already fully vaccinated too. Take care always. 🙏

I just wish this nightmare would be over soon.

I couldn't agree more. I'm honestly so demotivated to do some work because of this surge. It's never-ending and very frustrating. A lot of people and businesses have been highly affected by this virus. Same, my wish is for this thing to be over already so we could carry on with our lives without the fear of getting the virus!

That's sad to hear. I really think that if people would just listen and try to not go out all the time, things would be far better now. I've also seen tons of businesses here closing because they don't have customers, its really a sad sight to see.

I agree, I thought face-to-face classes would be back this year, welp, I thought wrong. Yes, that girl really sparked this all, I hope the government would imprison people like that. Keep safe also!

Too sad that some people act as if it is normal without any virus, I hope that they will also think about the sacrifices of our front liners. Stay safe.

Yes, my parents and sister are all frontliners, and it's heartbreaking to see that they are not being paid properly, and people don't believe in the threat of covid. Keep safe as well!

I'm not really interested in the "covid debate" but I honestly don't think that spikes in cases is ever going to go away. The world needs to accept that it is here to stay and move on.

Yes, it does seems like covid is just going to keep on evolving to different variants, sigh.

Truly, the covid surges are never-ending!! I hope you stay safe Carlos most especially your father, mother, and sister who are frontlines. Continue to follow the health protocols and it's nice that you purchased the N95 masks because it provides more protection based on what I heard. We will get through this!

=.= I just wish no more lockdown for this surge of covid as it really affect a lot in many aspect. Just today got news that one people suicide near the bank that I always went to due to financial problem. Whatever it is, just stay safe, comply the social distancing if possible and wear proper mask always.

Jesus, I'm so sorry to hear that. They must have been very much affected by these constant lockdowns, and no job opportunities. I wish nothing like that ever happens again. Stay safe my friend.

Yes, that's me! We weren't angry, but we were annoyed because of quarantine protocols here in our place where we have to go to the quarantine facility where the internet is so slow, and water is scarce. Keep safe my friend.
