Saludos amigos de Movies & TV Shows,
Esta semana quise salir de mi zona de confort y dejé de lado el clásico cine de terror para ver algo diferente, me decidí por mirar “Extraordinario”. Ya había visto los trailers de la película en promoción, pero no me detuve a conocerla. Asumí de que se trataba con solo observar al protagonista, sin embargo, no es lo mismo ver que mirar, me llevé una grata sorpresa.
Sinopsis
La trama se centra en August "Auggie" Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) un niño de 10 años que nació con una deformidad facial que afectó cuatro de sus cinco sentidos. Tuvo que ser operado para mejorar esa condición, además de hacerlo lucir físicamente un poco mejor. Fueron 27 operaciones, pero su rostro quedó lleno de cicatrices. Fue educado en casa por su madre, Isabel Pullman (Julia Robert) hasta que ella decidió que a partir del quinto grado debía recibir su educación en una escuela. Desde ese momento, su vida cambiaría para siempre.
La tarea de Auggie
No era otra que adaptarse a un mundo inhóspito, suena cruel pero es la realidad. La infancia es la etapa de la inocencia, contradictoriamente, es una de las más crueles, donde se origina el bullying y no se imaginan cuánto daño pueden hacer con ello. Los tiempos escolares recrean a la selva, repleta de depredadores donde solo sobreviven los más fuertes.
Auggie, sabía que era diferente, vivía en una burbuja y en su mundo solo cabían sus padres, su hermana Olivia Pullman “Vía” (Izabela Vidovic) y su perrita Daisy. Este niño nunca mostraba su cara en público, siempre usaba un casco de astronauta. Cuando ingresó a la escuela tuvo que dejarlo y mostrarse al mundo tal como era.
“Si te miran deja que lo hagan, porque naciste para sobresalir”
Dado su peculiar aspecto físico, a Auggie le incomodaba ser el centro de atención. Sabía porque lo miraban y por eso siempre caminaba entre la multitud con la cabeza baja. Su familia se preocupaba por su autoestima, razón por la que su hermana le dedicó una maravillosa frase el primer día de clases. “Si te miran deja que lo hagan, porque naciste para sobresalir”. No obstante, era tan difícil digerirla. Auggie se aprendió una frase que le enseñó su madre para intentar lapidar ese agrio momento cuando todos lo miraban con asombro y desdeño, “si no te gusta dónde estás, imagina donde quieres estar”.
“Si Halloween pudiera ser todos los días, sería feliz”
Si este chico no tuviera esa condición todo sería muy diferente, sería como cualquier otro niño y así lo demostró en Halloween, su día favorito.
Ese día usaba una máscara y se desenvolvía como pez en el agua, nadie podía verlo ni cuestionarlo, por eso él amaba Halloween. Eso demuestra cuanto sufrimiento había en su pequeño corazón.
La realidad de una familia
Nuestro protagonista se llevaba toda la atención en el núcleo familiar. Por ser diferente, había que reforzar algo muy importante para avanzar en la vida, la autoestima. Me hizo recordar a Forrest Gump, la influencia de los padres en casos como esos, es crucial e imprescindible. Era un trabajo de todos los días, en el que luego de un avance se podrían retroceder kilómetros y de ser necesario volver a empezar, nada fácil.
Además, podemos ver la otra cara de la moneda, dejar de lado al otro hijo, al punto de prácticamente ignorarlo, en este caso a su hermana Vía. Cuando los padres tienen a cargo un hijo especial, se olvidan del otro o de los otros. Piensan que ese niño especial los necesita más y no hay equilibrio en la crianza de todos.
La discriminación, uno de los peores actos que comete el ser humano
Uno de los peores rechazos que sufre el ser humano es la discriminación, sea cual sea la razón. Se hieren sentimientos, se destruye la confianza, nace la rebeldía y la amargura. Por eso, no debemos juzgar por lo que a simple vista vemos.
¿Por qué me gustó tanto esta película?
Wow, vaya que esta peli me hizo llorar y muchas veces, pero también logró sacarme muchas sonrisas. Cuantas lecciones de vida en solo 113 minutos. Por momentos me trasladé a los salones con los niños y disfruté de las clases de ciencia. Mi favorita, fue aquella donde hablaban de los preceptos, cuanta realidad en ellos.
Me sorprendió ver en el reparto principal a dos grandes actores experimentados, ahora más maduros, como lo fueron Julia Robert y Owen Wilson, éste último en el papel de Nate Pullman, el padre de Auggie. En la medida que pasan los años y los artistas se van retirando surgen nuevas figuras. Yo poco veo TV, por eso no logro distinguir quienes incursionan en este ámbito. No conocía la trayectoria de este actor tan joven y debo decir que hizo un gran trabajo interpretando a August Pullman.
Este film recrea muchos valores, como la amistad, la lealtad, la solidaridad y la empatía, estoy segura que habrá muchos más que ahora no recuerdo.
“La historia siempre tiene dos caras”
Siempre hemos escuchado la frase “las dos caras de la moneda”, sin embargo, aunque tiene el mismo significado, me sonó más bonito “La historia siempre tiene dos caras”. Me encantó la manera como se abordó la historia de los personajes, primero en el compendio de un todo, y luego, de manera individual. Esto nos enseña que no debemos juzgar hasta conocer el otro lado de la historia.
La clase de los preceptos fue sin lugar a dudas un elemento maravilloso dentro de la trama. En ellos se encierran realidades para crecer como seres humanos y ser cada vez mejores.
“Tu actos son tus monumentos”
Sin importar lo tengamos en riquezas, ni como luzcamos en apariencia, serán nuestras acciones quienes hablen por nosotros y será la huella que dejemos en nuestro sendero por la vida. Y como no sonreír y al mismo tiempo llorar al escuchar lemas tan enriquecedores.
¿Recomiendo esta película?
Con los ojos cerrados, cuanta belleza en casi un par de horas, por eso le otorgo un gran 10/10. Al verla hubo sentimientos encontrados, de momento se me salían las lágrimas y de pronto la escena siguiente colgaba en mí una gran sonrisa.
Extraordinario es un drama-comedia que logró conmoverme y movió muchas fibras. Nos enseña muchas cosas propias de nuestra realidad. Me despido con esta maravillosa frase:
“Sé amable, todos estamos librando batallas”

This week I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and left aside the classic horror movies to watch something different, I decided to watch "Extraordinary". I had already seen the trailers for the movie in promotion, but I didn't stop to get to know it. I assumed what it was about just by watching the main character, however, seeing is not the same as watching, I was pleasantly surprised.
Synopsis
The plot centers on August "Auggie" Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) a 10 year old boy who was born with a facial deformity that affected four of his five senses. He had to undergo surgery to improve that condition, in addition to making him physically look a little better. There were 27 operations, but his face was left full of scars. He was educated at home by his mother, Isabel Pullman (Julia Robert), until she decided that he should be educated in a school starting in the fifth grade. From that moment on, his life would change forever.
Auggie's task
It sounds cruel but it is the reality. Childhood is the stage of innocence, but contradictorily, it is one of the cruelest, where bullying originates and you can't imagine how much damage can be done with it. School times recreate the jungle, full of predators where only the strongest survive.
Auggie knew he was different, he lived in a bubble and in his world there was only room for his parents, his sister Olivia Pullman "Via" (Izabela Vidovic) and his dog Daisy. This child never showed his face in public, he always wore an astronaut's helmet. When he entered school he had to leave it behind and show himself to the world as he was.
"If they look at you let them look at you, because you were born to stand out"
Given his peculiar physical appearance, Auggie was uncomfortable being the center of attention. He knew why he was being looked at and so he always walked through the crowd with his head down. His family was concerned about his self-esteem, which is why his sister dedicated a wonderful phrase to him on the first day of school. "If they look at you let them look at you, because you were born to excel." However, it was so hard to digest. Auggie learned a phrase his mother taught him to try to stone that sour moment when everyone looked at him with awe and disdain, "If you don't like where you are, imagine where you want to be”.
"If Halloween could be every day, I'd be happy"
If this boy didn't have that condition everything would be very different, he would be just like any other kid and he proved it on Halloween, his favorite day.
On that day he wore a mask and was like a fish in water, no one could see him or question him, that's why he loved Halloween. That shows how much suffering was in his little heart.
The reality of a family
Our protagonist got all the attention in the family nucleus. Because he was different, something very important had to be reinforced to move forward in life, self-esteem. It reminded me of Forrest Gump, the influence of parents in cases like these is crucial and essential. It was an everyday job, in which after a breakthrough we could go back miles and if necessary start over again, not easy.
In addition, we can see the other side of the coin, leaving aside the other child, to the point of practically ignoring him, in this case his sister Via. When parents are in charge of a special child, they forget about the other child or children. They think that this special child needs them more and there is no balance in the upbringing of all.
Discrimination, one of the worst acts committed by human beings
One of the worst rejections that human beings suffer is discrimination, whatever the reason. Feelings are hurt, trust is destroyed, rebellion and bitterness are born. Therefore, we should not judge by what we see at first glance.
Why did I like this movie so much?
Wow, this movie made me cry many times, but it also made me smile a lot. So many life lessons in only 113 minutes. At times I was transported to the classrooms with the kids and enjoyed the science lessons. My favorite, was the one where they talked about the precepts, so much reality in them.
I was surprised to see in the main cast two great experienced actors, now more mature, as were Julia Robert and Owen Wilson, the latter in the role of Nate Pullman, Auggie's father. As the years go by and the artists retire, new figures emerge. I don't watch much TV, so I can't tell who is making inroads in this field. I did not know the trajectory of this young actor and I must say that he did a great job playing August Pullman.
This film recreates many values, such as friendship, loyalty, solidarity and empathy, I'm sure there will be many more that I can't remember now.
"History always has two sides"
We have always heard the phrase "the two sides of the coin", however, although it has the same meaning, it sounded nicer to me "History always has two sides". I loved the way the story of the characters was approached, first in the compendium of a whole, and then, individually. This teaches us that we should not judge until we know the other side of the story.
The class of the precepts was undoubtedly a wonderful element in the plot. In them are enclosed realities to grow as human beings and become better and better.
"Your deeds are your monuments"
No matter what we have in wealth, or how we look in appearance, it will be our actions who speak for us and will be the footprint we leave on our path through life. And how can we not smile and at the same time cry when we hear such enriching slogans.
Do I recommend this movie?
With my eyes closed, so much beauty in almost a couple of hours, that's why I give it a great 10/10. Watching it there were mixed feelings, at the moment I was in tears and suddenly the next scene hung a big smile on my face.
Extraordinary is a drama-comedy that managed to move me and pulled a lot of heartstrings. It teaches us many things about our reality. I say goodbye with this wonderful sentence:
"Be kind, we are all fighting battles"

Te la recomiendo, confieso que no me llamaba la atención y después de verla quedé muy impresionada. La sociedad condena a quienes son diferentes, y los niños son más crueles, quizás sea la manera como ellos miran al mundo, por ignorancia, inmadurez propia de la edad, no sé, lo ven como un juego y no lo es. Espero puedas verla, te va a gustar. Un abrazo de vuelta desde Cumaná.
I saw this movie on TV, one afternoon when I had nothing to do, and I was enchanted. It is a beautiful film, with a touching message, I watch it again every time I can, because it is a wonderful film.

Vi esta película hace ya algún tiempo y me encantó, transmite un mensaje muy hermoso e importante, y toca una fibra sensible al tener de protagonista a un niño que se encuentra vulnerable a las burlas por parte de lo demás. También es interesante observar como los que más contribuían a estas críticas eran personas adultas. Eso es un llamado de atención. Sin dudas es una gran película que todos deberían ver.
Es bella, me encantó tanto como Belleza inesperada con Will Smith, es un drama muy conmovedor.
Me llamó también la atención, la actitud de la madre de Julián fue deplorable, digno de una persona ignorante y vacía. Gracias por comentar.

I have not seen it yet, I think it is a lesson for life, it brings a very strong message, when being different is like being a sinner, discrimination gets out of control, bullying is around the corner, children are the most affected they cannot understand why they are different, this subject is quite difficult. Si, te la recomiendo. Ser diferente es un tema que la sociedad condena y los primeros en hacerlo son los niños porque no entienden que hacen daño, lo ven como un juego y no lo es. Espero que puedas verla, es un linda película.
Tanto la película como el personaje de August resultan conmovedores más allá de la condición de este. No he leído la novela, pero el film tiene varios mensajes que no debemos olvidar. Los niños son increíbles, pero también pueden ser muy crueles ante lo que temen o aquello que no entienden y para quien vive en una situación como la de August la infancia debe ser muy difícil; por eso es tan importante el rol de los padres (que sí, a veces descuidan un poco a sus otros hijos porque sienten que ta vez no los necesitan tanto como el otro, pero hay que revisar eso) y de los amigos, para ayudarles a ver más allá de la superfcialidad del mundo y de la inmensa mayoría.

El rol de los padres de acuerdo a la película debe estar enfocado en la educación en todos los sentidos, para equilibrar las cargas cuando haya alguien especial como Auggie. Digo equilibrar porque no es hijo único y el otro también los necesita. En cuanto al bullying, los padres deben enseñarle el significado y el daño que consigo arrastra. De ello depende que esa crueldad a causa de la discriminación disminuya. Se puede ver en una de las escenas la incapacidad de un adulto en entenderlo cuando se le abordó el tema.
