The Same Old Chelsea

Source

It's another football weekend and things just got more interesting for the boys in blue. Chelsea has made a lot of signings in the January transfer window and this summer window. Todd Boehly( Chelsea owner) has invested heavily in the new squad and has wiped out almost all the old players at the club. It seems Todd is investing in the future because with the amount of year's Chelsea are adding to the contract of their new signings it looks like a lifetime deal.

Chelsea has spent over 1 billion euros in the past two transfer windows and even when it seemed they were ready for the new season with the way they played in their preseason tour, but now it just looks like they were free styling because they still have a lot of issues going on. Chelsea drew their first game against Liverpool at Stamford bridge, Chelsea played well but no win to show for it and I was hoping to see something positive this weekend, but it was the total opposite.

Chelsea lost 3-1 against West Ham United away from home. Chelsea are still lacking quality in the midfield and forward area with what I watched last night. Enzo Fernadez was the only player in the midfield creating chances and throwing incredible passes for the front attack, but the forwards were not still able to utilize those passes and it was frustrating for me to watch because I know how good Enzo Fernadez is with the ball.

Enzo Fernadez also had a bad day yesterday as he lost a penalty kick. I was surprised Enzo went up to take the penalty and expected another player because Enzo is not good at taking penalties. Ever since Enzo missed his first penalty at the world cup it was clear taking penalties ain't his thing, well there's time for him to work and improve on it.

Jackson did not impress me at all today. I admire his work ethic, but Chelsea needs a goalscorer not Weghorst on the field. I get it's his first time in a new city and club and needs to adjust, but the reality is there is no time and Chelsea can't afford to finish outside the top four this season which I think could possibly happen.

Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of work to do with the team and the board have to be patient since they are trying to rebuild the team from scratch. I don't know how Pochettino is going to do it but Chelsea has to finish in the top four this season. They are not in the champions league, Europa league or even the conference league so that has no excuse to make this season. It is going to be a big challenge for Pochettino and I look forward to seeing how he takes the team to the next level.

So guys that's all for now, thanks for stopping by and having a good day.
