03 Flinger and Grunt.jpg

Hello Splinterlands Community,

This is Entry #3 of the soulbound reward cards under the Chaos Legion Edition. Last week I have shared my insight about Swamp Spitter and Coastal Sentry from the water splinter. In this post, I will be sharing my insight and thought for Fungus Flinger and Terraceous Grunt from the Earth Splinter, both having a common rarity.

For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver League Modern Format.

🍄 Fungus Flinger

Fungus Flinger.png

  • Fungus Flinger is a common card from the Earth Splinter which gives a good buffs to its allies.

  • Looking at the stats, Fungus Flinger does not really give a good damage attack as this card only have 1 range attack increasing its damage to 2 only in MAX level. This card does not also have a good speed nor high health.

  • In terms of ability, Fungus Flinger gives a good benefit to the Earth splinter. First with the Martyr ability which gives is suitable for this card low health gives a great boost to its adjacent allies.

  • The blind ability also gives an additional debuff for melee and range monster to have a chance to miss their target.

  • Lastly, the affliction ability in my opinion does not have much of a use because the first thing that this cards needs to do is to be defeated in order to trigger the martyr boost.

  • Best to use this card if there are ruleset such as Target Practice, Fire & Regret, Earthquake and Noxious Fumes where this card will be defeated at the start of the match.

  • A ★5 Fungus Flinger for me is a sweet spot for Silver and Gold League as on that level, the blind is unlocked while for me there is no advantage to increase this card speed given that this card only have 1 damage.

  • My personal rating for this card is : 2.5/5

Combo Cards

In terms of summoner, any summoner can be use for this card as the main objective is to have this card be easily defeated.

🪵 Terraceous Grunt

Terraceous Grunt.png

  • Terraceous Grunt is a common monster from the Earth Splinter focusing on being a tank.

  • Looking at the stats, Terraceous Grunt do have a pretty high health ranging from 10 to 12, a weak attack at the start of the level but having a good melee attack starting from ★8. The speed of Terraceous Grunt is also not that high.

  • In terms of ability, the dodge ability gives the Terraceous Grunt to avoid melee and range attack for a chance regardless of the speed. With reverse speed ability, Terraceous Grunt can avoid attack on a higher rate with the speed benefits and dodge ability.

  • Starting from Gold league, Terraceous Grunt do have the Return Fire ability which is against range monsters. This in my opinion is a good given that this card function as a tank.

  • My personal rating for this card is : 3.5/5

Combo Cards

In terms of summoner, Immortalis is the best summoner to have with Terraceous Grunt because of the void ability it can provide which is good for a tank. Also Mylor Crowling with thorns is also great when dealing melee units.

Card
Advantage/Disadvantage
Immortalis
With Immortalis buffs, Terraceous Grunt will be an effective tank against magic attack because of the void ability. This means that Terraceous Grunt is good against all types of attack: dodge against melee and range, return fire against range and void against magic.
Mylor Crowling
With Terraceous Grunt having a low damage in lower level, Mylor Crowling thorns can provide a better advantage for this tank when dealing melee monsters.

In terms of monster synergy, monsters with the tank heal ability and amplify ability are the best monsters to play with Terraceous Grunt.

Below are the list with these abilities that can be use with Terraceous Grunt

Counter Cards

In terms of counter cards, any monsters with high damage could be a good monster against Terraceous Grunt. Terraceous Grunt is not affected by monster with Fury because this tank does not have any taunt ability nor the Giant Killer as Grunt cost only 6 mana.

To disable the dodge ability, the monsters with true strike are the good option. Of course with Kitty as the summoner, you won't need to know if your monster have the true strike.

🍃 Closing Remarks

In my opinion, those common cards in a low level is not that helpful but bringin this cards to a higher level becomes a good card.

First is Fungus Flinger which main objective is to provide the Martyr buffs towards its adjacent allies. With this boost alone could give a better boost into the battlefield. This is like two monsters activated with a bloodlust ability.

On the other hand, Terraceous Grunt is a good tank monsters especially with Fog of War and given the void ability. It can defend from any attack.

How is your collection so far for these Soulbound reward cards?

How do you think Fungus Flinger and Terraceous Grunt?

Thank you for reading! See you next week for the Entry #4 which will be covering Imperial Knight and Drybone Barbarian from the Life Splinter.
