CHUNZ / Korean Corn Dog So Yummy!
Finally, I got to try this popular Korean corndog in Malaysia, called Chunz. I had been eyeing on it for some months since I heard about it from my brother. We bought one from Family Mart and it was rather disappointing. So, I was looking forward for Chunz. This is not a new food, just that it became popular in Malaysia due to the K-pop and K-dramas culture during the pandemic. We went to the mall that has the branch and here I was, in front of it!
Let's CHUNZ
They claimed their Korean corndog is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. You must be patient if you want to buy because they prepare each order fresh on the spot toe ensure the crispiness. Chunz is also famous for its premium grade sausages, both chicken and beef. Each corn dog is generously wrapped with cornmeal batter and then deep fried on the spot. Let's see the simple menu.
They have three base to choose from The OG, Cheddar and Mozza. Then you choose whether you want to have any toppings, three types too - The flakes, potatoes and noodles type. We decided to try the basic three bases without any toppings to taste the original corndog. And we opted out sauces too so that we can actually tried the batter.
Corndog in the making
You get to see the process of cooking the corndogs. Firstly, it was carefully wrapped with the sticky cornmeal batter. I noticed the worker took some time to wrap it, gently and carefully and generously layer upon layer.
Then, he proceeded to coating it with the basic breadcrumbs layer.
Then, into the deep fryer.
I estimated, each stick took him about 4-5 minutes to be properly done and that showed how much passion was put into each corndog. He really carefully ensured every part was covered with batter and breadcrumbs. I saw him did another customer with cornflaked topping, and it was generously coated with the flakes toppings too!
It took another few minutes to be deep fried. We ordered total 7 for our other family members and therefore, we waited for half an hour or more to get our order.
All corndogs into packing and properly labelled too.
Eat in the car
We couldn't wait to reach home to eat. Plus the workers mention to eat as soon as possible if we wanted to extra fresh crisp crunch feeling on each bite. So we open ceremony in the car. Sorry if the following photos weren't the best because the car was moving, I couldn't get a good stable photo.
The two boys love it to the max especially the mozza base where the top part was a huge chunk of mozza cheese. You could literally bite and see the cheese pull. And the sausage was really premium grade, so different from the usual mart's corndog.
Above was the last photo I had about CHUNZ's corn dog because after that, I just indulged in my every bite while listening to the boys constantly exclaiming, "So good. So nice. Let's buy again tomorrow." bla bla bla.
