Killing Time with Oil Pastel ArtTime
I used to be impatient when the internet is slow. However, I found a new way to be patient. They say art is a way to release. It was true to me when I was young, and it is still true to me now.
.
My boys have their sets of oil pastel laying around the house, unused. They are more fond alcohol markers and colour pencils than anything else. I, on the flip side, prefer watercolor, poster colour and crayons. I had never tried oil pastel colour until recently.
My first try
I wanted to do something simple to try out the texture of oil pastel (while I was killing some time waiting for my another art to be minted), how it blended and etc. I was feeling a little lonesome (not really lonely or feeling alone, it was some PMS thingy, just blame the hormone). So, I drew these.
Lonesome
I fell in love the moment I used oil pastel. It is so thick and creamy, like spreading peanut butter on baguette. Easy to blend between two colours too. Happy with the result, the lonesomeness sort of got rid of. I added a little flower on top. Just to feel pretty and cute. 🌸
Double
When you feel happier, your soul became more colourful and everything double up. You could tell from this next cactus I drew. Two of them, with cute colour 'topping'. I always love this type of cactus. Aren't they adorable together? My son said this looks like Rosa in the game called Brawlers. Haha.
Intertwine
When you are in love, you forget about each other's weaknesses. You just see all the good things on each other, all the strength exhibited, and you just want to be close to each other, if possible, just merge. Perhaps that's why we call it 2 become 1 in marriage. You intertwine. It is no longer you and you. It becomes US. See the lovey dovey here.
Yes, you will forget your partner weakness when you find a good partner that gives you joy.
Two are better than one, when they have the same character and when they are compatible just like what you drew, they both have the same color.
Oh yeah what a wonderful painting guess what dear? You where not killing any time, you were just doing something you love so much,
Your cactuses are amazing.
And you're right about using art to relieve stress or impatience. Art works made by others have this soothing feeling it comes with.
Then imagine if you're the artist, that will be another level of joy and self satisfaction.
It makes me remember my first painting with poster colours. I was quite young and bored at that time. I picked up a piece of paper and my poster colours.
I tried painting something but it came out very wrong and so I decided to paint the whole paper red and I did.
I let it dry and guess what, I sold it! . I did..
I still feel my uncle was just trying to support me by buying it but all well. I made my first art work sale. That brought me so much joy
