My visit to the most luxurious abandoned resort of the archipelago "Jardines del Rey" in the northern keys of Cuba. 🇨🇺 [ENG] [ESP]

Hello travelers of the @worldmappin community!
A few weeks ago, I posted to you about my visit to an abandoned hotel in the Jardines del Rey archipelago of the northern keys in Cuba 🇨🇺. Being a very large post I had to divide it into two parts, but this time I will finish the virtual tour of the 4 star resort Muthu Colonial, in continuation of its architectural beauty, infrastructure and even a viewpoint with the general observation of the place; I hope you all like it and that you enjoy this wonderful adventure 😊.

On this occasion I will start with the open-air ballroom. Apparently a day and night recreational space; that in spite of being inactive, it is maintained in good condition with its floors, paint and stables.
The place, as you can see, is totally unkempt, but there is evident neglect and overgrown planters with no maintenance.

On the left side was the buffet restaurant, with a colonial design. In the pictures you will see that it has been vacated, but it still contains some of its chairs, tables and even its air conditioners.
It is sad that this decadence not only affects its infrastructure, but also the local economic life, tourism and the identity of the area.

On the outskirts there was apparently a waterfall style with water and sculptures, which gave life to the entrance of the restaurant. And now it is just total abandonment, which can also aggravate the situation of damage by extreme weather conditions such as humidity and salinity.

The part that I would have liked to know more was the time when the discotheque "Salsa o Café" was open, according to workers of the keys it was one of the richest night bars in amusement, attraction and tourist splendor.
It presents precious woods in its entrance, as you can see there is still its animation board and inside its inactive dance floor.

This is what happens to many of the tourist places in the country, with several years of exploitation, they forget to give them maintenance on time and this situation occurs.
Its swimming pool was of salt water extracted from the sea, the only one in Cuba. At the moment it is completely deteriorated, dry, with stained and dirty floors. Its walls still preserve the tropical and beach paintings with dolphins.
As you can see mother nature has taken over a large part of the pool and water bar.

Moving on to another angle, some of the rooms have security seals and as you know I entered the resort illegally, so I was not able to take some pictures inside to show you their amenities and internal items.

This does not change my thinking that real estate is fascinating from a visual and strategic perspective.
It is also an attraction for urban explorers in search of hidden treasures and spectacular photographs.

It is a pity to see the abandonment of such a beautiful facility, a miracle that the remaining materials have not been taken away to be used in other hotels, apparently there is hope of reopening the colonial tourist center.

This red lighthouse or viewpoint is the place that I liked the most of the tour, because in its lower part there was a center for the elaboration of Spanish Creole food. And the upper part has the best views of the center in general, symbolic and photogenic.
As you go up you can see its rusty railings and somewhat deteriorated paint.

From the heights, enjoy the breeze and panoramic views, they look like colorful condos. The rooms or apartments visible, are with some broken doors and windows and apparently had even personal pools, something like suite in some buildings.

Before descending the tower, I took some close up pictures and even one of myself, as I was super comfortable up here. It would have been nice to have a few drinks and refreshing beverages accompanied by a delicious Creole food from the heights at sunset 🌅.

Now I start thinking, why create more hotels in Cuba, if the founders, the main ones, the ones that gave life and joy to the northern keys of the island, are being forgotten.
Why not remodel these and reopen their doors, I am sure they will bring more clients to the island than the new ones created by the government. But well, I only wish they can recover such a beautiful place.

Even the crab is abandoned haha lol but well positioned for photos. On the way out of the hotel, there is a walkway to a lagoon, which at one time must have been ideal for boating, jet skiing and sport fishing.
It represents the connection between the resort and the natural beauty that surrounds it with its mangroves, but now serves as a reminder of what it was.

On the way out to the beach I met my partner @karoly and we made the final walk to the nature reserve, which is the junction of the lake and the sea.
The marine structures such as piers or breakwaters are somewhat damaged by the salinity and the constant pounding of the waves. Upon reflection, it is painful how a place with so much tourist potential has become a forgotten space.

By way of conclusion, the Hotel Muthu Colonial conveys a mixture of sadness and mystery, what was once full of life, is now perceived as a silent, almost ghostly resort. Although it also makes it an interesting place for lovers of photographic art.
If you liked it, don't forget to leave a comment and follow me for future posts. I'd love to know your opinion and ideas for the next one. Regards

Wow, what a fascinating and bittersweet journey through Muthu Colonial! The way you captured the mix of beauty and abandonment really hit me. It's crazy how such a luxurious place can go from bustling to ghostly in just a few years. Loved the part about the lighthouse and Creole food—must've been amazing in its prime. Hope they restore it someday.
Thank you very much @yugadi for the support, it is a pity that such a beautiful and high level resort in the tourist cays of the island has reached this degree of abandonment. My favorite place was the lighthouse without a doubt jj very nice everything from the heights.
I hope someday this problem can be solved and open its doors to the public again.
Thanks for reading the post, greetings and excellent weekend to you !!! 🙏🏻😊🤗☺️
Really cool photos! Too bad it was abandoned because the area is super beautiful, at least it is open now for everyone to wander without purchasing a room for the night haha
Thank you for sharing!

This resort doesn't look too old but how sad that they couldn't continue with business operations. It could have provided livelihood for the local people. It would have been a great place for vacation for local and foreign tourists.
Exactly @bettsmarie09, it is a shame that such a beautiful hotel on the island has reached this level of neglect. It is true that the economic situation of the country is not in its best times, but not to leave a founding resort of the keys to total neglect.
I hope someday this problem will be solved and it will reopen its doors again to national and international tourism.
Greetings friend, thanks for stopping by to read the post. Good day to you !!! 🙏🏻😊☺️🤗

Ohhh!!! @wanderelle 😍☺️ Thanks so much for your comment and for stopping by to check out the post. Yes my friend it is a shame how such a nice hotel and facility has been in total disrepair for over 4 years and how beautiful it is inside.
I hope they can solve this problem, and reopen its doors again to tourism and holiday enjoyment.

Haha 😁, well yes even the crab 🦀 was abandoned jjj. Nice to know that you liked the post, and enjoyed some images @ainun37, greetings from cuba 🇨🇺 and great weekend to you !!!! 🙏🏻😊🤗
It really looks good for a place that is abandoned. I look the color of the building which is red, it really compliments the place and it pops up more 🤍
Yes the truth is that the hotel looks super nice @sheeniiee, but it has been in total abandonment for 4 years now. It seems that for lack of financial resources to continue the remodeling, I just hope they can solve this problem and can reopen its doors again.
Thanks for visiting the post amiga, greetings and excellent weekend !!! 🙏🏻😊🤗
