Oh Stress!!

Stress is one thing that is inevitable to most people, you get rid of one only to get faced by another and for most people the circle continues nonstop.

Lately, I have been so busy, so busy that my Hive account is crying for help already because I’m way more active than I am currently and I feel so bad.

A colleague of mine went on her annual leave and two staff at the customer service department took ill so the department was understaffed, they needed an extra hand and sadly that extra hand had to be me. I had once worked in the department so having me stand in for the time being pending the return of their staff wasn’t really a hassle for them. While working in the department a few months back I was so stressed and I was glad when I was finally moved to another department.

From dealing with angry customers to having piles of work to do and being distracted at intervals by either a customer or a staff.

“Miss could you help me with a ticket”
“Madam the queuing system is not working” etcetera etcetera and I mentally scream each time I get interrupted like that. I have to deal with angry customers, who are either yelling, swearing, or stating how many of my mates they have at home and there goes the popular saying “The customer is always right”. The only thing I haven’t received at the customer service desk yet is a hot slap and I pray it never gets to that point.

This young girl is stressed physically and emotionally. More like, it is boldly written on my face: “THIS HUMAN IS STRESSED”. I get home and I literally can’t do anything meaningful because I am tired from answering tons of repeated questions over and again and constantly keeping a smiley face so I don’t seem rude.

In my own little way, I try to eliminate stress by doing a couple of things, they are more like my coping mechanisms.

When I’m finally burnt out and don’t know what to do again I resort to talking to a friend, it can be over the phone or in person, I just need someone to listen to me rant, yell and calm down afterward. You necessarily don’t have to say much, just lend me your ears and be there for me emotionally.

Whenever I do this I discover I feel lighter, it’s more like a burden has been lifted. Whoever is listening can add a few words of encouragement to uplift my spirit I honestly don’t mind. My love language is words of affirmation so I guess hearing people say they believe in me or they understand what I am going through can be soothing.

Another coping mechanism I have adopted over time in dealing with stress is by going to places that makes me happy, maybe to a comedy show or going to see a funny movie, anywhere that I can laugh out my stress, the place mustn’t be grand, just a place where I can see a couple of humans doing some funny things, laughing is therapeutic according to me Hehehe. When I laugh sometimes I feel really good, more like unstoppable😂 to me it's like throwing away every garbage I have been holding on to, and mind you I can really laugh and I have a great sense of humor😃

I sleep when I’m burning out that is after taking a warm shower though, I’m sorry but I can't stand a cold shower Lol I’m too scared of cold water, no matter how scorching the sun is or how hot I am you’d never see me opt for a cold shower.
So after the warm bath comes the mega sleep, you know that kind of sleep where you shut the whole world out? You put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" and you go to Lalala land? That’s the kind of sleep I’m talking about. When I wake up from such sleep I feel refreshed and ready to take the world by storm, and every burden I was carrying is dumped in Lalala land, so nothing follows me back to reality.

If any of the aforementioned coping mechanisms don’t do the job, I eat, sometimes I can be guilty of eating too much junk but eating random things from my kitchen helps me, I just keep munching on something and maybe watching a movie alongside and before you know it I am all good as new.

I have been trying really hard to strike a balance, I haven’t achieved that yet but I know pretty soon I will.

If there is one major change that I wish to make in my life that would be not making poor decisions on impulse. Whenever I am pressurized or overly excited I tend to make pretty bad decisions that always comes back to kick me in the ass and I feel so helpless whenever this happens, this can be seen as cutting yourself with a knife and treating it afterward. So I really want to learn how to keep my emotions in check and make good decisions regardless of how I am feeling.

Oh, dear, I had no idea they had been overworking you at the office and you were still able to engage this much on the hive. I hope that your colleagues come back to work and relieve you as soon as possible.

And those customers of yours, they better behave themselves and stopped over-stressing you.

Ohh,its well @ibbtammy ,all effort will be crown in Jesus name but you should know to always relax is very important. always stressed too but I had to find a way to maintain balance.

We can’t control our mood but we can control what we choose to focus on. I try to always focus on the things that give me energy. I only focus on other things if I can potentially fix them or if I can learn something from thinking about them

So sorry dear. It's lovely you have mechanisms to rid off stress which are also my way out of stress too- munching and watching movies, having a good laugh and talking with a good friend to be heard and understood.
You do so much more even with what you go through at work. Well done 👍🏽 and I know you will do just great- don't ask how. I just know.💕✨🤗
