This prompt is timely! I casually told my friend two days ago that we would be celebrating 10 years of friendship next year, hehehe my friend of a decade, it has a nice ring to it, yeah? I know🥰

Building a strong friendship can be pretty hard, it takes so much effort to make a friendship work. My friend and I have been through fire and brimstone; our fights are legendary, one that could be likened to two wrestlers in a ring wrestling it out. When you think there’s no coming back from all the misunderstandings and hurts, we come back, bigger and better, not giving up on each other, and rebuilding again and again.

I met this friend of mine in a random place, nothing would have prepared me for this journey I was about to embark on. On a random evening, I went to a cyber cafe to print my assignment. I had no intention of talking to anyone as I wasn’t in the best of moods. For some reason the cafe guy was unnecessarily slow, increasing my anger and my desire to lash out at anyone who dared to make small talk with me.

Sulking and wallowing in my anger, this crazy friend of mine showed up with his friends. Having a conversation with a bunch of strangers was the last thing on my mind, but I don’t know how they caught my attention, but they did which was strange.

These comedians didn’t relent on my monosyllabic replies; they made me laugh and somehow got me to talk against my will, and my friend was the most persistent of them all. From that day to date, the rest is history, crazy history if I must say.

Being friends with this person has made me realize how beautiful friendship can be. There would be bad days, good days, heck, really ugly days but at the end of the day, no friendship is perfect and that’s okay.

As much as this person can be a thorn in my flesh, I wouldn’t wish to have it any other way.

Lol, upon making this post we are good, and I don’t know when the next grenade will drop but until then we are more than gooddddd.

In conclusion, friendships can find us anywhere. Most times, the most awkward situations can birth beautiful friendships. Not planned, not forced, not easy, and not always smooth sailing. If you ever have such people in your life, cherish them, as these days good friends are pretty hard to find except you are lucky.
