Twitter Badges for $20/Month - More Bullish on Hive

Web2 platforms are renewing themselves to catch up with the new standards that the devastating Web3 trend brings with its debut. We witnessed Facebook rebranding itself as Meta, Reddit minting NFTs, and Twitter allowing NFTs to be highlighted on the profile pictures.

Though all these developments seem like the tip of the iceberg, we all know that these giants are getting prepared for the future in which they will have no narrative to sell when Web3 can outperform them in any branch.

I'm okay with the fact that Elon Musk bought Twitter and he will try to make it an "everything app" as much as possible. However, the recent action made me think about its sustainability.

Renting the Prestige on Twitter

It is not different from wearing luxury items or using expensive things to show off. On Twitter, people are going to show that they are paying more for the services on Twitter as a "minority" that is different from the rest of society who use it without a Verification Badge and for free!

Basically, this Web2 platform is getting prepared to sell people a sense of superiority via the icons next to their usernames. It sounds weird but, as we all know, thousands of people will fall into it if it can be advertised. We all know that Elon can sell this story to people quite easily 🎬

The objective of the company is to set a monthly subscription of $4.99 dollars for these users, which would further unlock other features. Additionally, a new Twitter Blue subscription would be $19.99. Current verified users will be given 90 days from the launch, to subscribe to the new feature. -Watcher Guru

Twitter may have a price for premium features in the short term. It seems like the mass adoption of Twitter is the new product of this short-form posting platform. (LeoThreads can fix it 🦁)

On Hive, You need to Deserve it First

Hive has a reputation system that is directly tied to your contribution to the ecosystem in the sum of several parameters.

In our ecosystem, I appreciate people who have 70+ or even 80+ reputations as these people are precious to our community. I've been in Hive for more than 3 years and my last month has been challenging for me to raise my reputation from 69 to 70.

As you can see, I still have 69.9 Rep points in Hive which means that I need to keep adding value to the ecosystem if I want to reach my target that is appreciated by people.

Rented Prestige on Twitter is Illusionary

The first impression of people may be ignoring this show-off but I believe this idea of renting a verification badge will not have positive feedback from the majority of Twitter users.

What is really prestigious for me is absolutely different. In the new world of Web3, the prestige will be owned via Proof of Respect to those who have a good reputation in the system they are a part of.

Hive works on Proof of proofs IMHO. As I see the concerns in the obsolete platforms, I, once again, understand the importance of the thing that we are building as a whole community. The ecosystem is beyond the standards!

Oh I ve read it since yesterday, but you know what I think?
He is trying to make ppl talk about him + Twitter (and is successful at it)
He'll find other ways to make $$ - his power is very big and he knows that.
Let's see if I'm right .. I ll be the first one to tell so (and this is written on stone!)

Very good points. In web3 we can already buy our own NFT and apply it everywhere. 🙃😃

When I saw the news I said to myself, Twitter just gave me another reason to brag about Hive.

I don't get your argument, you're trying to conflate proof of work with proof of stake, your reputation has fuckall to do with what work you've done everyone knows that, if you happened to appease someone with a large stake, had large stake yourself of a token that was handed out and has no tether to any proof of work creation, then the reputation system has been and always will be tarnished,

I shared my thought about the strengths of the Hive reputation system over the paid version of Twitter. None might be perfect but the superiority is obvious IMHO

They’re both pay to play systems just because you’re abstracting away the direct payment doesn’t make it any different! They’re both garbage and vanity metrics
