Locking CUB into the New Cub Kingdom

The LeoFinance team has finally rolled out the new vault on Cub Kingdom which gives stakeholders additional options for their CUB holdings - either keep them flexible or lock them up in various fixed periods of up to 52 weeks.

So if you still have your CUB on the old vault on Cub Kingdom, you have to withdraw them first before you can transfer them to the new Cub Kingdom vault.

As of this writing, the total value locked (TVL) on the new vault is already $143k (less than 24 hours that it has been launched).

Staking in the New Cub Kingdom

  • Go to https://cubdefi.com/kingdoms then click on the Approve Contract button.

  • You can then choose whether to put your CUB on Flexible Staking (works like the old Cub Kingdom vault) or lock them up for different number of weeks.

  • If you decide to put them on fixed terms, fill in the amount of CUB or click Max should you stake all and then type the number of weeks you wish to keep them there.

  • It will show you the expected APY on your stake and the total number of CUB you will be earning in that period of time. Check and confirm the transaction on your wallet and you're done.

I thought it was nice that we can add more CUB to our stakes anytime and extend the lock in period too, but doing any of that will affect the terms of the stakes.

For instance, clicking on Add CUB will bring you this window with a warning that it will renew your lock in period and the yields will decrease. To avoid that from happening, check the box. The unlocking date and time will change accordingly.

If I add more CUB tomorrow at 10 for example, the unlock period will then be changed to Dec. 21, 2022 at 10 am.

Clicking on the Extend button brings me to this:

I noticed that it calculates only the liquid CUB on my wallet and not the original amount that I have already staked on the vault. It seems that if I wanted to extend my staking period from 4 weeks to 20 weeks, I have to wait for the 4 weeks to lapse or expire and then re-stake it for another fixed term.

I also wonder if we can stake CUB into different timeframes (like 1k CUB for 4 weeks, 2k CUB for 8 weeks and 5k CUB for 52 weeks). But by the looks of things, that isn't possible. We can however use different wallets if we intend to do so.

But yeah, this upgrade on the Cub Kingdom is nice. It's said to be a test too and should it be a success, bHBD and bHIVE bonds will follow. It would be another great staking opportunity for HIVE and HBD if that happens.

As always, DYOR
