Sorry Mico, 'Til We Meet Again

Liza Summer

She sobbed uncontrollably
not knowing what went wrong
Mico said it's over
he stormed out the door.

She cried through the nights
no one knew she suffered much
She smiles and laughs
dying deep inside.

Days, months, years gone by
and there wasn't any closure
'til she married another
he remained a bachelor.

His sister, her best friend
confessed he couldn't move on
chose to remain single
his heart only for her.

It was just a misunderstanding
but none of them did something
Could be pride or was it shame?
Neither she has an answer.

Not her fault
or was it?
Waited for him
a few more years,
but didn't hear
a single word.

No she isn't guilty now
over 20 years hath passed
yet memories remind her
of a young love not forgotten.

She'd seen on her dreams
him coming for her
and she being happy
as they walked together.

Then she woke up
tears on her eyes
What could this be?
Confused, she just laughed.

Dear Mico, this is for you
'Tis to say I'm sorry
for things undone
and words unsaid too.

I loved you then
but now as a friend
I wish you well
'Til we meet again...

I kind of believe that some feelings are better left unsaid yet discovered that writing them is a form of release. This is just one of them and do bear with me for it's an amateur poem which for some reason, just came out as I stared at the provided photo, lol! Well, it's funny that the words came out quite naturally, just like narrating a story that I've read elsewhere.😅 Tried a lil polishing on some of the phrases but still feels something is lacking.

Anyhow, this is my entry to this week's #PhotoPrompt for the topic Regret. Have something you feel remorseful about and have bottled deep within for so long? I invite you to let the words flow and join us on this prompt. It could be a fun practice.😉

All the best and happy weekend!

Smile... laugh often... love more... be happy and grateful always!

You did really well. I have never tried poetry, and probably never will.

I kind of believe that some feelings are better left unsaid yet discovered that writing them is a form of release.

I used to believe this too. But recently discovered, while blogging about some of my feelings and thoughts, that writing is a form of release like you said.

Mico..I like the name.

They always say that we should live a life without regrets but just like you said, some words are better left unsaid.

This was a nice piece of poetry ifarmgirl. You're making great progress with your poems✨

They always say that we should live a life without regrets

This is true. Life has a lot of challenges so adding regrets into the mix isn't exactly good.

Thank you lots, !LADY for your heartwarming remarks :)

Ah, the silliness of love. If we are meant to be together, we'd apologise and move on, work it out, be in love. Love shouldn't be hard! A lovely poem that captures the feeligs of regret really well.

Nice presence of the nostalgia. Think it was shame, not pride.
