Are activists, who inconvenienced the general public justified?

Here is a deep question that requires to be viewed from different angles before been concluded.

let's start with the reason for making the activist take those decisions, the reason behind justifies either good or bad.

I'll give scenarios that happened here in my country and I'm sure everyone reading would be able to provide answers themselves.

2020 was like a black year for Nigeria because even after scaling through the pandemic there was a peaceful protest that led to the death of many youths.

A group of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) who was meant to fight robbery took advantage of the power and began to extort young ones ripping them of their valuable things all in the name of searching and if resistance is made the victim is shot in cold blood.

It became rampant that young ones were all scared to leave home because of fear of being shot.

Then the special anti-robbery squad began to visit homes and breaking into homes all in the name of searching.

This grew to the police department and they also began to indulge in receiving bribes at every checkpoint and the increase of police brutality increased.
It was as if all the forces asked to protect us were there to kill and extort instead of providing protection. It was so bad that you'd rather run to an armed robber to be saved than run to the police for safety.

Every individual was affected from the father to the least in a family and so activists decided to voice out in a peaceful protest so many places were blocked just to get the attention of the government to put a stop to the madness, traffic increased and the inconvenience at that time was to the greatest maximum but then the public enjoyed it, the public was okay with it
it either they live with this inconvenience or get killed from the brutality of the police.

The public did not see it as an inconvenience situation but rather as a breakthrough from the slavery of police.
Though it cost a lot but eventually their voices were heard

So tell me are the activist who inconveniences the general public justified here?

Another scenario occur last week whereby a student was burnt and stoned to death all because of blasphemy and are killers were prosecuted but then the followers who claimed to be activists decided to put up a protest for the release of the killers and rater they destroyed and burn buildings all in the name of religion.
The public was thrown into panic and fear and a curfew was eventually proposed to curb the damages.

Tell me are activists who inconvenienced the public justified here?

My point is sometimes the inconvenience is needed and is justified good and sometimes it should be regarded as a public disturbance.

The reason for each inconvenience determines whether it would be justified as good or bad.

I agree, each case needs to be examined individually. I am really sad to hear about the violence and destruction caused by religious fanaticism. The other thing that makes me sad is the blatant police brutality and the SARS (ironic, how the acronym is the same as the virus!) doing the exact same thing they were supposed to prevent. Compared to that, a bit of protesters' inconvenience is certainly justifiable.

For me, protests when they are for good causes and justice are always justified and if they need to be inconvenient for the public to be heard, they are welcome.

And one thing is a protest and another is vandalism that seeks to generate violence. I also believe that protests, however just and peaceful they may be, must have a limit if violence is unleashed.

Yeah I like the choice of words used one is protest and the other vandalism if it involves violence then it vandalism.

Those are very difficult situations and it seems to be dangerous to protest and dangerous if you don't.

Thanks for sharing and letting us know.

When was the reign of SARS @ijohnsen, was that really recent? And I agree with a couple of others, how ironic to be called SARS just like the "virus". Something the citizens are told that is going to help them and takes the trust the people have in them and stomps that trust into the ground. And wow, I thought that the religious stuff like that had stopped years ago.

That was 2020 it was total chaos then for my country even after scaling through the pandemic.
For the religion I guess some people are just using religion to justify their bad deeds.
