SEWING A SUMMER LOOSE DRESS // FIRST PROJECT WITH MY NEW EQUIPMENT

____________________________________Hello Hivers__________________________________

The last days I was working on a summer dress which is actually my first complete project using my new machines. I felt so good working at my new workspace, everything was easy accessible and ergoniomic. So I decided to make a summer dress cause it still feels like summer here ever if it is the last days of September. I used a beautiful viscose spotted fabric which has colors that reminds me of sweet ealy autumn.

I used a pattern that I had sketched some months ago. The dress is short and it's fit is kinda loose.
I cut my pieces carefully, I always be hesitant when it comes to fabric cutting. For now I use my floor for this task but I should propably find a big table to make this easier for me.

I used the serger sewing machine to serge every piece and protect my frayed ends. This machine is so amazing, it is actually the second time that I use a serger and it seemed so easy to handle. I am really excited about it!

Since I had every piece done with the serger machine I started by sewing first the shoulders.

As soon as I finished with both shoulders the next step was to sew the sleeves with the main body of dress while it is open.

5.jpg

Sleeves were done and the next move was to sew the back of the top together. Sewing with printed fabrics might be a little tricky sometimes cause the print at the seams should look like uniform. I hadn't thought about it when I cut the fabrics but I will definitely know it for the next time.

As soon as I finished with the back of top, I also get done both the side seams.

7.jpg

The last step for the top of dress was to sew 1 cm for the neck line and then spot the right place for the corsage cross and sew it in order to be easier for the next steps.

As soon as I had the top done, I moved to the bottom part of my dress. I sewed the central back seam and also both side seams of the skirt.

Having both top and bottom parts done, it was about time to sew them together and see how the dress looks like. The skirt size was much larger than the top of course so I had to sew it while doing a frill at the bottom part.

The seam at the previous step was more like for helping me and keep the two parts steady together. So the important step here was to sew a rib on the same seam in order to create a beautiful ruffle at the waist.

The last step of the proccess was to sew the hemline of the bottom and the sleeves as well.

                                      Ready for the result ?

I enjoyed so much the whole proccess, working from my new workspace with my new machines. Something I also really enjoy is styling and creating photography content with fashion. Special thanks to my boyfriend @knowhow92 who helped me with the photo shooting and have patience to follow all my ideas, hehe.

I hope you like my post guys and find it helpful. Thank you all for stopping by.

Have a great and creative day!
