Mi amiga, su madre y la mía decidimos escaparnos un poco de la rutina y pasar el día en la piscina del Hotel Hotel El Bosque, en mi ciudad de Holguín. Siempre se habla mucho de la piscina del Hotel Hotel Pernik, pero yo tenía curiosidad por conocer El Bosque… y definitivamente fue una gran elección.

Nos organizamos desde temprano. Preparé el almuerzo para llevar, porque ya sabemos cómo están los precios por ahí, y a veces lo mejor es ir con todo listo desde casa. Me fui bien temprano a hacer la cola para poder entrar primero, y lo logramos: fuimos de las primeras en pasar.

Desde que entré, me gustó todo. El ambiente, el orden, y sobre todo un lugar que me robó la atención: el bar cafetería “Bar Azul”, que tiene un encanto especial, de esos rincones donde uno se sienta y simplemente disfruta del momento. De hecho, me quedé con ganas de hablarles mejor de ese lugar, así que lo dejaré para un próximo post, porque merece su propio espacio.

La piscina grande es preciosa, con varias zonas para estar, descansar y compartir. Pero lo más lindo del día no fue el lugar en sí, sino la compañía. La hija de mi amiga veía una piscina por primera vez en su vida… y sus ojos brillaban de una manera tan pura que era imposible no emocionarse. No lo pensó dos veces: nos hizo meternos al agua de inmediato.

Y ahí estaba todo… risas, juegos, chapoteos, su mamá y nosotras compartiendo un momento sencillo pero perfecto. Me hizo muy feliz verla disfrutar tanto, sin preocupaciones, sin prisas, solo siendo una niña feliz en el agua.

También fue un respiro para todas. Estar lejos del apagón, del estrés diario, de las preocupaciones de siempre… fue como detener el tiempo por unas horas.

Había cerveza importada en moneda nacional, aunque la cerveza cubana solo estaba disponible por tarjeta en dólares, algo que no todos pueden acceder. Aun así, el calor hacía que todo supiera mejor y lo disfrutamos muchísimo.

Al final del día, más que un paseo, fue una desconexión necesaria. Un momento simple, pero lleno de vida: familia, amistad, sol, agua y risas sinceras.

Nos fuimos cansadas, sí… pero con el corazón ligero.

Porque a veces la felicidad no está en grandes cosas, sino en días como este, donde todo encaja sin planearlo demasiado, y simplemente se vive.

Yesterday I lived one of those simple experiences that end up becoming beautiful memories.

My friend, her mother, and mine decided to escape a little from the routine and spend the day at the swimming pool of Hotel El Bosque in my city of Holguín. The pool at Hotel Pernik is always more popular, but I was curious to get to know El Bosque… and it was definitely a great choice.

We got organized early in the morning. I prepared lunch to take with us, because we all know how expensive eating out can be, and sometimes the best option is to bring everything from home. I went very early to line up so we could get in first, and we did: we were among the first to enter.

From the moment I walked in, I loved everything. The atmosphere, the order, and especially one place that caught my attention: the café bar called “Bar Azul,” which has a special charm, one of those corners where you just sit and enjoy the moment. I will actually write a separate post about it later, because it truly deserves its own story.

The large pool is beautiful, with different areas to relax, sit, and enjoy. But the best part of the day was not the place itself, but the company. My friend’s little daughter saw a swimming pool for the very first time in her life, and her eyes were shining with pure joy. She didn’t hesitate at all and immediately made us get into the water.

And that was it… laughter, games, splashes, her mother and all of us sharing a simple but perfect moment. It made me so happy to see her enjoying the water so much, carefree, just being a happy child.
It was also a break for all of us. Being away from power outages, daily stress, and everyday worries felt like time had stopped for a few hours.

There was imported beer available in local currency, although Cuban beer was only available through dollar cards, something not accessible for everyone. Even so, the heat made everything taste better, and we enjoyed it a lot.

In the end, more than just an outing, it was a necessary escape. A simple moment, but full of life: family, friendship, sun, water, and genuine laughter.

We left tired, yes, but with lighter hearts.
Because sometimes happiness is not found in big things, but in days like this, where everything comes together without much planning, and life is simply lived.
