English Version

There are places you remember with special affection because they are connected to a certain stage of your life. For me, Bar Cafetería Paradise is one of them.

It was one of the first places I visited when I started publishing content on Hive, and back then, it was one of the most popular places in my city. The lines were incredibly long, getting a table could become quite a mission, and yet people kept coming. The quality for the price was great and, above all, I remember their pizzas being delicious.
So the other day, after leaving the clinic, my friend Yessica and I were hungry and decided to stop by.

The first thing that surprised me was finding the place almost empty. And to make things even more curious, right across the street they had made an exact replica of the establishment, which was also practically empty.

Yessica really wanted to have the pizzas we both remembered being so good, so we ordered one for her. I chose some croquettes, and we had them with tomato juice and a malt drink. To finish, we ordered a chocolate ice cream and, of course, a little espresso coffee.

The service was wonderful, I have to give them that.

But then the pizza arrived.

And without exaggerating, it was the worst pizza I have ever had. The cheese had a rancid taste, the sauce practically had no flavor, and the dough was raw. It was one of those moments when you take a bite, look at the person sitting across from you, and both faces say exactly the same thing.

The croquettes weren't the best, but they weren't among the worst either. At least the pink sauce was delicious. I really liked the tomato juice. I love that salty combination and, together with the slightly sweet and sour croquettes, it worked quite well.

The chocolate ice cream wasn't the original brand, but it was delicious.
And then came the coffee.

My beloved coffee.

Well... that one was the worst of them all. A waste of money and a small heartbreak for someone who enjoys coffee as much as I do.

Still, the afternoon had its good side. We spent some time in the air conditioning, talking and laughing, which after leaving the clinic is not a bad thing at all.
I think that's the funny thing about going back to places we remember fondly. We expect to find exactly what we left behind, but time also changes restaurants, cafés, and even our own expectations.

Paradise was once one of those places packed with people, with long lines and pizzas that made the wait worthwhile.
This time it was almost empty, and the food was quite far from those memories.
But I'll keep the best part: a nice afternoon, good company, and a little nostalgia.

The pizza and the coffee, though, I'd rather remember them the way they used to be.
