English Version

In Cuba, the heat just doesn't seem to want to go away. Although afternoon showers have become more frequent lately and, thankfully, help cool things down a little, we still have those days when you feel like you're melting inside your own home.

And when you add the fact that I don't have Internet at home at any time of the day, weekends can feel endless. Between the heat, the boredom, and not having much to do, the afternoons seem to last forever.

Yesterday was one of those afternoons. In the middle of all that heat, I began to notice the sky filling with dark clouds. Little by little, the atmosphere changed, and finally, it started to rain.

But this time, something was different: there was no lightning, and it didn't seem like a dangerous storm.

That's when I had an idea that probably wasn't very grown-up or responsible... but it was definitely fun.

Since Mom and Dad weren't home, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and go outside to shower in the rain.

I think the last time I did something like that was when I was a teenager, and back then, I probably didn't need many excuses to do it either. This time, after so many years, I simply felt like experiencing that feeling again.

So, I went outside.

And it was much more fun than I had expected.

I let the rain soak me completely, and for a few minutes, I forgot about the heat, the power outages, the boredom, and all those things that have become part of our daily lives lately.

The water was cold, the air felt different, and I was as happy as a little girl.

Besides, after so many hot days, you have no idea how good it feels to cool off like that. It was probably the cheapest and most refreshing shower I've had in a long time.

Of course, every adventure has its consequences.

When my parents came back, I got the scolding I already knew was waiting for me. Because even though I was perfectly fine and had enjoyed myself so much, to them, it was probably a combination of recklessness and looking for a way to catch a cold.

But honestly... it was worth getting scolded.
Sometimes we need to do little things, even slightly silly ones, that bring back the feeling of truly enjoying life.

Yesterday, I had no Internet, no special plans, didn't go anywhere, and didn't do anything extraordinary.

It simply rained.

And I decided to be a teenager again for a little while.
