The last meal I had was a quiche on a bed of spinach. I added the spinach, but the spinach didn't really add anything to the meal. Then I had a peppermint chocolate cup. Were chocolate cups a thing before reese's peanut butter cups made them popular? Probably? Like Reese's probably just took something that was already a popular way to eat chocolate and marketed their own take and then that became the predominant one. I guess the question really is, did this particular one get made that way because reese's exists or is it drawing on an older tradition. Something to research when we're done. Did you know the history of the ice cream cone is both relatively recent and mysterious? Like no one knows for sure how it started. Probably at the world's fair. Prior to that single serving ice cream on the street was sold in glass cups that got handed back to the vendor after you ate your ice cream, and then refilled without being washed. hm.

Anyways, one of the stories goes that an ice cream vendor ran out of glasses on a hot day and partnered with a waffle vendor and they started serving the ice cream in waffles that they wrapped like the way we know about cones now... but probably it wasn't as impromptu as that.
