Servando Gallery [esp/eng]

One of the tourist modalities that has proliferated the most nowadays is cultural tourism, many travelers move to know and enjoy the different artistic expressions. I am part of that group of people, and following my avid art spirit I share my visit to the Servando art gallery, located in the heart of Vedado in the Cuban capital.

Una de las modalidades turísticas que más ha proliferado en la actualidad es el turismo cultural, muchos viajeros nos movemos para conocer y disfrutar de las diferentes expresiones artísticas. Yo formo parte de ese grupo de personas, y siguiendo mi espíritu ávido de arte comparto mi visita a la galería de arte Servando, ubicada en el corazón del Vedado de la capital cubana.

The gallery owes its name to the well-known Cuban painter Servando Cabrera Moreno. A group exhibition is currently on display: HB, which is a showcase of contemporary Cuban art. Various materials were used in the works: steel, glass, wood, artificial silk, canvas. In spite of the style of each artist, all the works integrate very well in the space.
I was very amused to learn that the wooden door I saw in the first room was also part of the exhibit, leading to another of the rooms. The door has no less than 30 latches!!!! It was no easy task to discover the only llavín that allows to open it.

La galería debe su nombre al conocido pintor cubano Servando Cabrera Moreno. Actualmente se exhibe una exposición colectiva: HB, que es una muestra arte cubano contemporáneo. En las obras se emplearon varios materiales: acero, cristal, madera, seda artificial, lienzo. A pesar del estilo que posee cada artista, todas las obras se integran muy bien en el espacio.
Me pareció muy divertido saber que la puerta de madera que vi en el primer salón formaba también parte de la exposición, y que daba paso a otra de las salas. La puerta tiene nada menos que 30 llavines!!! No fue tarea sencilla descubrir el único llavín que permite abrirla.

I also liked the work "National Tree", which is very interesting because it seemed to me a kind of table lamp in the shape of a palm tree (Cuba's national tree) with very bright colors.

Me gustó también la obra "Árbol Nacional", que es muy interesante porque me pareció una especie de lámpara de mesa con forma de palma (el árbol nacional de Cuba) de colores muy vivos.

In the gallery there are many pictures with paintings using different techniques. The ones I liked the most have very vivid and tropical colors.

En la galería se exponen muchos cuadros con pinturas que emplean diferentes técnicas. Las que más me gustaron tienen colores muy vivos y tropicales.

You can also find high quality photographs, but on this occasion my favorites were two images of children, which seem to have been taken in some village in our country. I am sure that any Cuban who sees them will feel the same. The framing and colors look perfect.

Se pueden encontrar igualmente fotografías de alta calidad, pero en esta ocasión mis preferidas fueron dos imágenes de niños, que parecen tomadas en algún pueblo de nuestro país. Estoy segura que cualquiera cubano que las vea sentirá lo mismo. El encuadre y los colores lucen perfectos.

I found the series "Broken object" by the artist Greta Reyna very striking, it makes you think about the peculiar vision that artists have of reality, that they can see art in anything.

Me resultó muy llamativa la serie "Objeto roto" de la artista Greta Reyna, te hace pensar en la visión tan peculiar que tienen los artistas de la realidad, que pueden ver arte en cualquier cosa.

There is a small space dedicated to selling costume jewelry and other great items as travel gifts. They also have magazines and books that talk about the works and artistic work of the artists that are currently presented in the gallery, and these are kept until new shows are not exhibited.

Existe un pequeño espacio dedicado a la venta de bisutería y otros artículos excelentes como regalos de viaje. También tienen revistas y libros que hablan de las obras y la labor artística de los artistas que actualmente se encuentran presentados en la galería, y estas se mantienen hasta tanto no se exhiban nuevas muestras.
