"Gaspi visits your home," the latest project from a comedy great and audiovisual lover [ENG/ESP]
Hello everyone, often events happen that take us by surprise, to the point of being difficult to process. Life is full of twists and turns, some even unfair; however, they remind us how fleeting everything is. As some of you may know, a little over a week ago a plane crash occurred in Brazil, where among the deceased were the filmmaker Lucas Vignale and Gaspi, who, as you know, was someone I'd followed closely for a long time, and well, it generated a lot of mixed feelings. The thing is, these two had recently started a new digital project through the YouTube channel Blender, and since I've dedicated several posts to their humor before, I couldn't help but share my thoughts on this project called "Gaspi Visits Your Home."
Hola a todos, muchas veces pasan acontecimientos que nos toman por sorpresa al grado de costarnos mucho procesarlos, y es que la vida está llena de giros que a veces hasta son injustos; sin embargo, nos recuerdan lo efímero que es todo. Y es que, como algunos sabrán, hace poco más de una semana un accidente aéreo se suscitó en Brasil, donde entre los fallecidos estuvieron el realizador audiovisual Lucas Vignale y Gaspi, que, como sabrán, personalmente era una figura que seguía mucho desde hace tiempo y, bueno, generó muchos sentimientos encontrados. La cosa es que recientemente estos dos personajes habían comenzado un nuevo proyecto digital a través del canal de YouTube Blender y, pues, ya que he dedicado varios posts antes a su humor, no podía dejar de darles mi opinión acerca de este llamado "Gaspi visita tu hogar".
To begin, Blender is an Argentinian YouTube channel with a streaming format, where they upload varied content and also broadcast informative programs in the style of a television channel. It has been gaining traction for some time and, like other countries with this format, it has its high points of entertainment. Among this lineup of programs was Gaspi's new project, which he co-directed with Lucas Vignale. This was a format of biting humor and surreal OC, with some fictional elements, but which perfectly embodied Gaspi's well-known and characteristic style. In this program, we would see him visit places with very curious characters with certain traits, where irreverent situations would unfold, unexpectedly blending into a mix of all those elements that had been so characteristic of him for years, but on a different scale.
Para empezar, Blender es un canal de YouTube argentino con un formato de stream, donde suben contenido variado y a la vez hacen emisiones informativas al estilo de un canal de televisión. Este lleva un buen tiempo consolidándose y, al igual que otros países con este formato, llega a tener sus puntos altos de entretenimiento. Y bueno, entre esta parrilla de programas, estaba el nuevo proyecto de Gaspi, el cual dirigía junto a Lucas Vignale. Este era un formato de humor ácido y un occ surrealista, con algo de ficción, pero que a su vez encarnaba muy bien el estilo conocido y característico de Gaspi, y en este programa veríamos cómo visitaba lugares con personajes muy curiosos con ciertas características, donde pasaban situaciones irreverentes y que inesperadamente lograban ensamblar en una mezcla de todos esos elementos que por años eran muy de él, pero a otra escala.
Through his signature interview style, the series comprises four episodes that, in my opinion, build from the initial humor to the final product. The core idea was to showcase people's stories, regardless of their fame, as seen in the third episode with the band Acuarela, or ordinary people who fit perfectly into the narrative, as demonstrated in the first episode. Naturally, the production and narrative are crafted to create a somewhat fragmented feel as the story unfolds, yet it's undeniably funny and offers a fresh perspective on the show itself. We often see a blurring of lines between the character and the person, and this undeniably set the stage for a truly unique project.
A través de las tan conocidas entrevistas a su más estilo, son un total de cuatro episodios que siento van de menos a más en cuanto a lo que es el humor y lo que podemos ir encontrando en estos, pues en sí la idea era ir mostrando historias de la gente, no importa si eran conocidos, como en el tercer capítulo con el grupo Acuarela, como personas comunes, pero que encajaban completamente, como se puede ver en el primer episodio. Obviamente, todo bajo una producción y una ficción narrada para generar esta sensación de que está algo fragmentado a medida que avanza, pero a su vez hace reír y, sobre todo, era una vista más renovada de lo que era el mismo gas, ya que odiamos observar un poco de esa fusión o momentos del personaje con la persona, y eso sin duda era algo que demostraba que iba a ser un proyecto completamente único.
The last two episodes aired back-to-back as a tribute to his memory, and, interestingly, I feel these two episodes were undoubtedly the best. The last one, in particular, featured a type of humor that simply made following Gaspi a work of art. It was also the one that generated the most mixed emotions because it best showcased the rebellious humor we knew him for. Personally, watching it was a rollercoaster of sadness and laughter, especially considering all the progress we had seen from him and how he poured his heart and soul into his audiovisual projects. It certainly makes us reflect on everything we were able to witness because it was clear they were betting everything on him. Sadly, we won't know what else he had in store for this series or if there will be more material, but it's still one of those things to remember him by fondly. Los dos últimos episodios fueron emitidos de manera seguida luego de los acontecimientos ocurridos en una forma de homenajear sus memorias y, curiosamente, siento que estos dos episodios sin duda eran los mejores, ya que se jugaba sobre todo el último con un tipo de humor que simplemente hacía que lo que seguíamos a Gaspi fuera una obra de arte, y sobre todo es el que más generó sentimientos encontrados porque era el que más mostraba su humor tan rebelde con el que lo conocimos, por lo que personalmente fue una montaña rusa de tristeza y risas verlo, más que todo por todo el avance que veníamos viendo de él y cómo ponía hasta el corazón por sus ideas audiovisuales, y sin duda nos hace pensar en todo lo que pudimos llegar a ver porque se veía que estaban apostando por él todo. Lamentablemente, no sabremos qué más nos tenía preparado para esta serie y si habrá más material al respecto, pero aun así es de esas cosas para recordarlo de buena manera. When I heard about the accident, I immediately thought of you and the posts you’d shared about Gaspi, and to be honest, what happened was truly shocking, a tragedy, as he was such a young and talented lad.
This review you’ve shared today is proof of that; he was working on new projects, and from what I can see, very original ones, that really captured the reality of people’s lives. He also worked closely with others, and people really appreciated him. Thank you for sharing these final works and showcasing his talent; he had a unique personality and created unique content too.
