A CRITIC OBSERVATION OF BENIN MASK (SOAP CARVING)

Here is my 3rd series on soap carving after Ori Olookun of Ife land down to Elephant now Benin mask.
At first I was scared of some delicate details on the mask but I said with my first experience I must be able to bring this out beautifully.

BENIN ART
Benin art was actually produced mainly for the court of Oba of Benin.
Benin or Edo Empire (1440–1897) a pre-colonial African state located in South-South region of Nigeria.

1. Benin art is either made of Ivory,wood or bronze.
2. Stylistically the image are angular with the eyes of the figure almond shape.
3. Nose and lips are angular.
4. Only Royal beads can be casted in brass.
5. Less naturalistic with the eyes of the figure almond shapes.
