Hello to all art lovers!!! And one of those who loves fantasy pencil drawings. ^_^

# Portada.jpg

You could say that these days, I'm doing all the house cleaning tasks that I haven't done in the last 3 months, so I think that next week is when I can really rest to resume my ideas and creative things, like drawing my OCs for my drawing guides or tweaking some ideas to see if I'll finally publish a webcomic next year, and really improve my skills in sculpting in plasticine or other materials.

Since I am already on vacation, for obvious reasons I no longer have access to my classroom, which means that this is the last drawing that I will put on my wall and publish in this year 2022, I will continue making more drawings of these and I only need 3 to finish The Lord of the Rings theme and continue with another one closer to comics, but that will already be publications for 2023 ^_^

Starting an epic portrait

As mentioned I continue with the drawings of "The Lord of the Rings" based on the sketches of the wonderful artist "Stjepan Sejic" take a look at his gallery where I got the reference for this drawing

In the drawing of this occasion is a portrait of a man with a beard.

In this drawing it is a frontal portrait, with the head slightly raised, so when I made the sketch with very simple lines giving a lot of space to the neck and representing the nose with a triangle to define the area of the nostrils, then I define more the sketch, showing more of the facial features, the shape of the hair and the folds of fabric, with this ready I begin to fill in starting with the right eye and surroundings.

For the skin I used the 3H pencil a lot, with light tones applied with the 2B, I used this pencil a lot for everything that is hair, mustache, beard and eyes, first I covered the right side of the face with tones, which is the most illuminated, the right side is in shadow so for the skin I used the HB pencil with a lot of 2B and with that same pencil I applied the tones that I could to complete all the hair and beard.

To mark the shadows I started to use the 3B pencil, and in this way I managed to capture depth to the entire head, then I begin to fill in the neck using the combination of 3H and HB pencils, and gently applying the 2B pencil I begin the light areas of the fabric folds.

I keep applying more pressure to get darker tones on the fabrics, but I also start using the 3B pencil for the darker areas and shadows, the brooch had to show a metallic appearance so I just used the 3H Pencil with it, finally I apply the 6B pencil in all the shades of the drawing to achieve greater contrast, depth and highlight the entire silhouette and contours, and thus finish the drawing.

The strokes you use appear simple and limited, yet it comes out looking incredible, especially with some distance! This is truly a talent couple with practice. 😊
