Now, this is a movie I want everybody to see. It is a wonderful movie about ignorance, domestic violence, mental health, malpractice by the doctor, and common sense dying on the sidewalks. I am not sure why it is being categorized as a romantic movie.

The End. Review Over.

You see that is the thing with the review. I might have to go through the entire run time of the movie but I only paid attention to the scenes where Dhanus was present. Dhanus played the lead in this story Vishu is a doctor of sorts. No wait I think he was a med student. And Sara Ali Khan played a Hindu upbeat girl from Bihar who is in love with a Muslim Guy (Sajjad Ali Khan) played by Akshay Kumar. Now, why did I mention the Hindu / Muslim angle even though it doesn’t contribute to story? It's because we were hammered in with this nonsense. I am not sure what Bollywood is trying to do here but lately, this is what it is coming down to. Instead of introducing to the characters, we are getting introduced to the character's religion. Take the Toofan movie, the Hindu Muslim angle makes zero contribution to the story. Ufff!!! (inuke facepalms...) Leave it. It is a dead horse.

So the Rinku (Sara Ali Khan) is in love with Sajjad (Akshay Kumar). And she tries to run away. The girl's family is against her decision and came to the solution of getting her married off. So they kidnapped Vishu (Dhanush), drugged both bride and groom. And got them married. Which is a very illegal thing to do. Trust me I checked, I mean if only Vishu and Rinku went to the police station file a complaint, and get action against the family people. Yeah!! The movie would have been different and very real and boring. Ah!! I forgot Vishu was supposed to get engaged in a day or two with the lady he was in love with or at least that is what we were lead to believe. Anyway, that crapped out too.

So by movie logic, they went to Delhi where Vishu was working or studying or something. And decided to go a separate way. I mean that is good too. So they all waited on the Sajjad to show up who was somewhere in Africa (Magicians Job or something). Meanwhile, Vishu develops feeling towards Rinku out of nowhere, because Bollywood. And right when he confessed his love, Sajjad returned.

And soon we are served with a nice plot twist. That Sajjad doesn’t exist. Dun...Dun...Dunn!!!
Yup, Rinku has some mental disorder. (Yup movie never bother to explain the exact disorder she was suffering from) Just mental illness. What pisses me off is Vishu’s friend (Psychiatrist) started medication without proper diagnosis. Yup that dude has thrown everything and let's see what sticks attitude. Uggghhh!!! It hurts even to think about it.

Alright, Vishu started taking care of Rinku. Random songs, Imaginary Sajjad tries to commit suicide. Blah Blah Blah!!! Rinku realized that Sajjad is not real and ran back to Vishu.

THE END, GOOD RIDDANCE, AND GOODBYE MOVIE.

Perhaps I am being too harsh. The movie tried and failed at a very tricky subject. But it was a very nice effort. As I said, Dhanush is the star that steals the show. This is the first movie of Sara that I watched so I am not sure if this is her A material or zero effort, but she feels Off. Some of the scenes demanded more from her. And felt like she underperformed. Akshay was in for a small part perhaps 10mins, but man!!! he was loud.

Watch and be done with it.
