Taksim Square and Nearby Historical Sites 🚊 My Monthly Author Challenge! Day #28

Hello everyone! I hope you are in a good mood.

The fair organized by StudyExpo, where I got information about study abroad opportunities, was held at Taksim InterContinental Hotel. You can access my article here where I shared the details of the fair and the varying education costs according to the countries. While I was in Taksim, I thought it would be impossible not to walk on Istiklal Street and when I left the fair, I enjoyed Taksim Square for a while.

The hotel was located next to Gezi Park. So I walked through the park to reach the square. This ornamental pool in the middle of the park caught my attention and I wanted to take a photo of it. But I wasn't alone, two other kids were also very interested in this ornamental pool😅😅

After passing the pool, Taksim Square was right in front of me. A few minutes later I got the best shot.

I took a photo of the Taksim Republic Monument, the symbol of Taksim Square, from this angle. This is the symbol of Taksim. And almost everyone knows this place because one of the exits of the Taksim Metro is right here. From here you can go to Istiklal Street, the famous shopping street with hundreds of shops and dozens of arcades. Another street is called Sıraselviler, the other direction leads to Gezi Park and the roads for car traffic are around here.

The beginning of Istiklal Street, this street is more than 1 km long. It is frequented by tourists and is a very popular place.

Another street is Sıraselviler Street, this is the entrance part of this street, I briefly visited both sides.

I saw Selvi Restaurant on Sıraselviler Street. My father used to work here a long time ago, he always talks about it in his memoirs. I saw this place for the first time and took a photo of it for memory. I didn't go inside, but I saw various home-cooked meals being sold.

Then I took the subway to go back. This patterned tile in the subway looked different. It had wave and sailboat motifs. Most of the subways in Istanbul have different designs to add color. I went from Taksim to Sishane, so I went one stop further. And here I saw a historical building.

Historic Tunnel Phenicular Line. After London in World History, it was built in Istanbul in 1875 and still continues its services between Karaköy and Beyoğlu.

Yurtdışında eğitim fırsatları hakkında bilgi edindiğim StudyExpo tarafından düzenlenen fuar Taksim InterContinental Otel'inde düzenlenmişti. Orada edindiğim ülkelere göre değişen eğitim masraflarını ve fuarın detaylarını paylaştığım yazıma buradan ulaşabilirsiniz. Taksim'e gelmişken İstiklal Caddesinde yürümemek olmaz diye düşündüm ve fuardan ayrıldığımda biraz Taksim Meydanı'nın tadını çıkarttım.

Otel Gezi Parkının yanında yer alıyordu. O yüzden meydana ulaşmak için parkın içinden yürüdüm. Parkın ortasında bu süs havuzu ilgimi çekti ve fotoğrafını çekmek istedim. Ama yalnız değildim burada gezinen iki başka çocukta bu süs havuzuyla epey ilgiliydi😅😅

Havuzu geçtikten sonra hemen Taksim Meydanı karşımdaydı. Bir kaç dakika sonra en güzel kareyi yakaladım.

Herkesin önünde fotoğraf çektirdiği, Taksim Meydanı'nın sembolü Taksim Cumhuriyet Anıtı'nı bir de bu açıdan çektim. Burası Taksim'in sembolüdür. Ve hemen herkes burayı bilir zaten Taksim Metrosunun bir çıkışı tam olarak buradadır. Buradan İstiklal Caddesi denen yüzlerce mağaza ve onlarca pasaj bulunan ünlü alışveriş caddesine gidebilirsiniz. Diğer bir sokak Sıraselviler denen bir sokaktır, diğer istikamet Gezi parkına gider ve araç trafiğinin geçtiği yollarda buranın etrafındadır.

İstiklal Caddesi'in başlangıcı bu cadde 1 km'den fazla uzunluğa sahip. Turistlerin uğrak yeri ve oldukça popüler bir yer.

Diğer bir sokakta Sıraselviler sokağı, burada gözüken bu sokağın giriş kısmı, ben iki tarafıda kısaca gezdim.

Sıraselviler sokağında Selvi Restoran'ı gördüm. Çok eskiden burada babam çalışmış, hep anılarında anlatır. İlk defa burayı gördüm ve anı kalması için fotoğrafını çektim. İçeriye girmedim ama çeşitli ev yemeklerinin satıldığını gördüm.

Daha sonra geri dönmek için metroyu kullandım. Metrodaki bu desenli fayans farklı geldi. Dalga ve yelkenli motifleri vardı. İstanbul'daki metroların çoğunda renk katması için farklı dizaynlar mevcut. Taksim'den Şişhane'ye geçtim yani bir durak ilerledim ve burada tarihi bir yapıyı gördüm.

Dünyanın 2. Metrosunu

Tarihi Tünel Feniküler Hattı Dünya Tarihinde Londra'dan sonra İstanbul'da 1875 yılında yapılmıştır ve Karaköy ile Beyoğlu arasında hala seferlerine devam etmekteymiş.
