Talking about nature will never end, because the deeper we look, the more amazing things we will find.
If in the previous week's contest I posted about rare (carnivorous) pitcher plants from the Borneo forest, so today I would like to present something different for you guys.
It's about Moss Plant from the Bryophyta family.

I believe that most of you already knows about The Moss plants, but let's talk more about this one.

Our forest is one of the rain forest areas in Indonesia, the rainfall here is quite high, so it is not surprising that several types of plants grow very fertile here, one of them is a moss plant.

They like humid places, in general, these plants are found on the surface of rocks and soil, but not infrequently they also grow on tree trunks like this.
Even though it is classified as a parasitic plant, its existence is very elegant... For example, look at this one, how they change the appearance of this tree with its green wrap so it looks so awesome. ^_^

They grow in piles, clinging to some parts of the tree bark.
And if we look closely, we can see that they have a neatly arranged leaf structure, very beautiful.

Just like other parasitic plants, in principle, this plant also harms other plants that it infests, they will periodically absorb nutrients from the body of the host plant (in this case the tree bark). In addition, because mosses live in humid places, they will keep the bark of this tree wet and moist all the time. This is very detrimental, because it can cause the tree trunk to rot over time.

The growth of this type of plant is quite fast, at first they will grow randomly on various surfaces, such as rocks, soil, and wood, after finding the right place, then they will multiply and continue to grow more and more dominate the host plant.

Even so, moss plants also have benefits for the ecosystem, even their functions are very fundamental. The benefits it has are that moss is a plant that absorbs carbon dioxide which is quite good, so it can be called as a provider of oxygen for other living things.

Great macro view on this nice moss plants .. they look really nice ^^ .. The structures have their own beauty in their smaller world and this region must be very welcoming for moss in general ;)
