Saludos querida comunidad, hace unos días mi hermana me pidió modificar una chemise, pues la misma era totalmente blanca y a ella le parecía muy simple para usarla, no me pidió nada específico, es decir, que yo tenia la libertad creativa de hacer cualquier cosa siempre que fuera de su gusto, ya anteriormente he hecho modificaciones a camisas poniéndole parches a crochet, pero en esta ocasión quería intentar algo diferente, recordé entonces que hace muchísimo tiempo que no practico bordado en Punto Cruz asi que me pareció buena idea hacerlo.

Greetings dear community, a few days ago my sister asked me to modify a shirt, as it was completely white and she felt it was too plain to wear. She didn’t ask for anything specific, meaning I had creative freedom to do anything as long as it pleased her. I’ve previously modified shirts by adding crocheted patches, but this time I wanted to try something different. I then remembered that it had been a very long time since I’d done cross-stitch embroidery, so it seemed like a good idea to do it.

Proceso / Process

No tenía los materiales necesarios, solo tenía la tela tipo malla para bordar, así decidí entonces usar hilos de coser porque no tenía de los que se usan específicamente para este técnica, por otro lado tampoco tenía un bastidor o tambor para bordado, por lo que me dispuse a construir uno a partir de un envase de mantequilla reciclado 😄

I didn’t have the necessary materials; I only had the mesh fabric for embroidery. So I decided to use sewing thread because I didn’t have any specifically for this technique. On the other hand, I also didn’t have an embroidery hoop or frame, so I set about making one from a recycled butter container 😄

Ya con todos los materiales busque la imagen de un patrón en Pinterest que se ajustara al espacio de trabajo que me dejaba el bastidor, debo decir que el hilo de coser es mucho mas delgado que el de bordar, por eso utilicé 4 hebras, comencé con el hilo negro haciendo todo el contorno de la figura.

Once I had all the materials, I looked for a pattern image on Pinterest that would fit the workspace left by the frame. I must say that sewing thread is much thinner than embroidery thread, so I used 4 strands. I started with the black thread, making the entire outline of the figure.

Luego usé el hilo vinotinto y después el naranja, como la chemise era blanca tenía duda si dejar las zonas blancas del dibujo vacías o si debida bordar con hilo blanco, decidí bordar con blanco y fue la decisión correcta porque mantenía la uniformidad de la textura del dibujo.

Then I used the burgundy thread and then the orange one. Since the shirt was white, I was unsure whether to leave the white areas of the drawing empty or whether to embroider with white thread. I decided to embroider with white, and it was the right decision because it maintained the uniformity of the texture of the drawing.

Desde el principio decidí que no iba a hacer el bordado en un parche sino que seria parte de la chemise, por lo tanto el último paso que hice fue cortar los bordes de la tela de malla y luego halar cada hebra de las misma para dejar el bordado solo sobre la tela de la chemise, una vez hecho eso por detrás pegue un trozo de tela llamada POP para proteger los hilos.

From the beginning I decided that I wasn’t going to do the embroidery on a patch but that it would be part of the shirt, so the last step I did was to cut the edges of the mesh fabric and then pull each strand of it to leave the embroidery only on the shirt fabric, once that was done I glued a piece of fabric called POP on the back to protect the threads.
