Máscara de Catrina a Crochet
Saludos querida comunidad, nuevamente estoy muy agradecida por el apoyo en el pasado reto de Máscaras para Halloween, todas las participaciones estuvieron grandiosas, motivada por tales resultados decidí hacer una máscara de nuevo pero para sumarme a la celebración del Día de los Muertos que es cada 2 de noviembre, esta es una fecha muy especial para los países latinoamericanos porque es la época de recordar a los seres queridos que han fallecido, México es el país más conocido por su forma de celebrar esta fecha pero no es exclusivo suyo, sin embargo, los altares coloridos, las flores las decoraciones de calaverad , si son algo netamente mexicano y es reconocido como un patrimonio cultural muy importante, yo admiro mucho esa tradición a pesar de que no soy ser mexicana y mucho menos religiosa, pero siento que es una forma bonita de ver la muerte, porque en muchas culturas la muerte es tabú y no se quiere habar de eso, pero en la cultura Mexicana cada año se le dan ofrendas y se ponen altares hermosos a los seres queridos que ya no se encuentran con vida. Por eso hice una máscara a crochet de una Catrina que es una imagen icónica de esta fecha.
Greetings dear community, again I am very grateful for the support in the last Halloween Masks challenge, all the participations were great, motivated by such results I decided to make a mask again but to join the celebration of the Day of the Dead that is every November 2, this is a very special date for Latin American countries because it is the time to remember loved ones who have passed away, Mexico is the country best known for its way of celebrating this date but it is not exclusive to it, however, the colorful altars, the flowers, the skull decorations, if they are something purely Mexican and it is recognized as a very important cultural heritage, I greatly admire that tradition even though I am not Mexican and much less religious, but I feel that it is a way nice to see death, because in many cultures death is taboo and you don't want to talk about it, but in the Mexican culture every year offerings are given and on beautiful altars to loved ones who are no longer alive. That's why I made a crochet mask of a Catrina that is an iconic image of this date.
Proceso / Process
Trabajé con ganchillo # 3 e hilo acrílico, comencé por la cara con el color blanco desde la frente haciendo 24 cadenas, con puntos altos hice un aumento doble por nueve hileras y luego dividí el trabajo en tres partes para dejar los agujeros para los ojos menguando puntos en cada hilera y luego haciendo aumentos correspondientes, retomé la totalidad de las puntadas y dejé espacio para la nariz, haciendo disminuciones dobles de los lados hasta obtener 30 puntadas, luego dos hileras sin aumentos y una hilera con puntadas de abanico para asemejar los dientes. Por último hice una hilera de puntos bajos por todo el borde de la cara.
I worked with a #3 crochet hook and acrylic yarn, I started on the face with the white color from the forehead making 24 chains, with double crochets I made a double increase for nine rows and then I divided the work in three parts to leave the holes for the eyes decreasing stitches in each row and then making corresponding increases, I went back to all the stitches and left room for the nose, making double decreases on the sides until I had 30 stitches, then two rows without increases and one row with fan stitches to resemble the teeth . Finally I made a row of single crochets all around the edge of the face.
Para las cuencas de los ojos hice 42 cadenas en un círculo, con puntos altos trabajé una hilera y en la siguiente hice 6 aumentos hasta obtener 48. Con hilo rojo hice una hilera de puntos de abanico, luego cosí al rostro. Con hilo negro hile puntos bajo en el borde de la nariz y en el borde de los dientes hice puntos deslizados y puntos altos.
For the eye sockets I made 42 chains in a circle, with double crochets I worked one row and in the next I made 6 increases until I got 48. With red thread I made a row of fan stitches, then I sewed to the face. With black thread I made single stitches on the edge of the nose and on the edge of the teeth I made slip stitches and treble crochets.
Para la flor llamada cempasúchil que es la que comúnmente se le pone en las ofrendas de los Muertos usé hilo amarillo, hice 30 cadenas y luego hice aumentos de puntos altos hasta obtener 75 puntadas en la hilera siguiente trabajé sin aumentos, en la tercera hilera hice aumentos separados por una puntada tipo pico, luego cosí la flor en espiral, cosí la flor a cabeza
For the flower called cempasúchil, which is the one that is commonly placed in the offerings of the Dead, I used yellow thread, I made 30 chains and then I increased the double crochet until I got 75 stitches in the next row I worked without increases, in the third row I made increases separated by a peak stitch, then I sewed the flower in a spiral, I sewed the flower to the head
Para las rosas usé hilo rojo, comencé por 96 cadenas y sobre estas trabajé con puntos altos separados por el espacio de una cadena, en la siguiente hilera trabaje según correspondía, en la tercera hilera hice los pétalos haciendo puntadas tipo abanico, cosí la flor en espiral, luego cosí la flor a la cabeza
For the roses I used red thread, I started with 96 chains and on these I worked with double crochets separated by the space of a chain, in the next row I worked accordingly, in the third row I made the petals making fan-type stitches, I sewed the flower in spiral, then I sewed the flower to the head
Para las tiras de la máscara hice 70 cadenas con hilo negro y luego 70 puntos bajos en estas. Cosí a la máscara y luego bordé la frente.
For the mask straps I made 70 chains with black thread and then 70 single crochets in these. I sewed to the mask and then embroidered the forehead.
Resultado / Result
Los maquillajes artísticos que se realizan de Catrinas son espectaculares, pero la opción de usar una máscara también es algo genial, yo amé esta experiencia y creo que me entusiasma la idea de usar la máscara en muchas ocasiones. Espero les haya gustado y recuerden siempre tener presente en su memoria sus seres queridos que ya no están 🥰🤗
The artistic makeups that are done for Catrinas are spectacular, but the option of wearing a mask is also something great, I loved this experience and I think I am excited about the idea of wearing the mask on many occasions. Esta opcion de mascara esta genial porque es quita y pon sin tener que estar maquillada ame esta idea Irene , de hecho puedes hacer otras representaciones cada vez que se acerque una fecha de celebracion por ejemplo ahor viene navidad y arbolitos, hombres de nieve, año nuevo, uf y lo vendes es tremenda idea para emprenderantes de culminar este 2022.
El proceso de elaboracion todo un arte como todo lo que haces al lado de tu amado y talentoso hijo.

Me encanta todo el colorido y la mística de esta celebración mexicana, pero las catrinas son lo más bello y la.tuya ha quedado preciosa Irene, no sabía el nombre la flor amarilla tan irónica también de la celebración 🌷🌼

Como siempre un trabajo impecable y hermoso.
Si que es una excelente opción, ya que se puede usar muchas veces y además pasar de generación en generación.
También es una fecha importante para nosotros, porque celebramos y honramos a esas personas que amamos y ya no están entre nosotros.
