Restaurando un morral tejido

Saludos querida comunidad, espero que hayan tenido un buen inicio de año, en esta oportunidad les comparto una experiencia que sinceramente espero nunca se repita y que a ningún trabajador de las agujas les pase, esto es que hace ya varios años le hice un morral tejido a mi sobrina y este diciembre regresó a mi completamente destrozado con agujeros, la causa es aún incierta, según mi hermana un día el morral apareció así, ni siquiera se si fue un ratón u otro animal el que hizo esos agujeros o si es que el morral cayó en alguna sustancia que provocara eso, no tengo idea y pensarlo racionalmente es difícil porque me enoja un poco, pero sería una lastima descartar el morral que me costó tanto trabajo hacer, como artesana y artista duele mucho ver que lo quu hice con las manos haya sido destruido, por eso decidí poner las manos a la obra y restaurarlo de alguna manera.

Greetings, dear community. I hope you've had a good start to the year. This time, I'm sharing an experience that I sincerely hope will never be repeated and that no other knitter ever has to go through. Several years ago, I made a knitted bag for my niece, and this December it came back to me completely ruined with holes. The cause is still uncertain. According to my sister, one day the bag just appeared like that. I don't even know if it was a mouse or some other animal that made the holes, or if the bag fell into some substance that caused that. I have no idea, and thinking about it rationally is difficult because it makes me a little angry. But it would be a shame to discard the bag that took me so much work to make. As a craftswoman and artist, it hurts a lot to see that what I made with my own hands has been destroyed. That's why I decided to get to work and restore it somehow.

Este morral fue hecho con doble hebra de acrílico para crochet, pero lo hice combinando técnica de dos agujas y el crochet, la base la hice a crochet pero todo el cuerpo del bolso lo tejí con dos agujas circulares de 3mm, el morral presentaba dos agujeros, uno pequeño mientras que el otro era enorme precisamente en el tejido en dos agujas, el tejido en dos aguas no es como si se pudiera parchar y ya, si no se recuperan los hilos que van construyendo las hileras, el tejido se va seguir desbaratando como un efecto cadena, así que debía en primer lugar tratar de anudar dichos hilos por el borde de los agujeros, luego tratar de levantar los puntos de la parte de abajo y tejer con doble hebra y dos agujas la cantidad de hieleras necesarias.

Empecé con el agujero más pequeño, dándome cuenta que el hilo que yo tenia no era precisamente del mismo tono, pero era casi imposible conseguir el mismo así que traté de no prestarle mucha atención a eso, lo importante era poder construir un tejido a partir del agujero, el resultado no me convenció mucho porque las medidas no estaban simétricas en el agujero, así que para el agujero más grande procedí de otra manera.

This bag was made with double-strand acrylic crochet yarn, but I combined knitting and crochet techniques. The base was crocheted, but the entire body of the bag was knitted with two 3mm circular needles. The bag had two holes, one small and the other quite large, precisely in the knitted section. Double-strand knitting isn't something you can just patch up; if you don't pick up the yarn used to create the rows, the fabric will continue to unravel like a chain reaction. So, first, I had to try to knot those yarns around the edge of the holes, then pick up the stitches from the bottom, and knit the necessary number of coolers with double-strand yarn and two needles.

I started with the smallest hole, realizing that the yarn I had wasn't exactly the same shade, but it was almost impossible to get the exact same one, so I tried not to pay too much attention to that. The important thing was to be able to create a fabric from the hole. The result didn't convince me much because the measurements weren't symmetrical in the hole, so for the larger hole I proceeded differently.

Como las puntadas que que formaban el agujero no eran simétricas, desbaraté las puntadas que faltaban para hacer al agujero cuadrado, es decir que faltaran la misma cantidad de puntadas tanto arriba como abajo, luego con ayuda de una aguja y ganchos auxiliares aseguré 19 puntadas de arriba y abajo, luego procedí a anudar todas las hebras que habían sido cortadas por el agujero hacia los lados, es decir el numero de hebras era igual al número de hileras que faltaban, luego de anudar eso procedí entonces ahora si a levantar los 19 puntos con dos agujas, hice puntos jersey por 22 hileras.

Since the stitches forming the hole were not symmetrical, I undid the stitches that were missing to make the hole square, that is, so that the same number of stitches were missing both above and below. Then, with the help of a needle and auxiliary hooks, I secured 19 stitches above and below. Next, I proceeded to knot all the strands that had been cut by the hole to the sides; that is, the number of strands was equal to the number of rows that were missing. After knotting that, I then proceeded to pick up the 19 stitches with two needles and worked stockinette stitch for 22 rows.

Cerré con una lana de descarte e hice los mismo con el borde de arriba, luego con aguja lanera y el mismo hilo usado para el tejido procedí a hacer una costura invisible también llamando remallado, luego retiré la lana de descarte y cosí a los lados del cuadrado.

I closed it with a scrap of yarn and did the same with the top edge, then with a yarn needle and the same yarn used for weaving I proceeded to make an invisible seam also called overlocking, then I removed the scrap yarn and sewed to the sides of the square.

Ciertamente fue mi primera experiencia reparando un agujero en un tejido en dos agujas, pero considero que pude hacerlo bien dentro de las pocas posibilidades de éxito que había ante tales agujeros, espero que de verdad el morral siga conservando su vida útil y que sirva para alguien que haga buen uso de este.

It was certainly my first experience repairing a hole in a knitted item, but I believe I did a decent job considering the limited chances of success with such holes. I truly hope the bag will continue to be useful and that it will serve someone who puts it to good use.
