You are someone that loves eating sugar a lot. From Candies, Ice Cream, Biscuit, Soda, and many more, Sugar is a part of your life, and when you do not have it in a day, you can feel less alive but then, you hear from different sources that sugar is the root of all evils, being the biggest cause of stored body fat when consumed in excess, and can be addictive in some form if not directly, and you want to stop it. What happens when you decide to stop consuming sugar, how does your body react?

Before your dietitian begin to preach to ulyou about cutting down on sugar when doing diet, it will be good for you to know that Sugar is in every diet including in that vegetable and fruit that you are asked to start eating. So when your dietician is telling you to cut down on sugar, they are telling you to remove added sugar from your meals since most food have sugar naturally occurring in them.

If you wouldn't cut down on sugar for any other reason, you might want to do so because of the health of your teeth. Sugar intake can lead to cavities in the teeth but then, if you brush and floss regularly, then you should be fine. I am certain you begin to wonder why people eat sugar then? The answer is that it taste good and this good taste makes it look a little addictive.

If you have heard the word “the more the sugar the more the fat” then you should understand that excessive sugar leads to more calories, and this means weight gain, leading to obesity and we know that being obese can lead to other serious conditions such as stroke, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and can lead to joint conditions and this can reduce the life expectancy of a person.

If a person is so use to taking sugar all the time, early signs of withdrawal will be Increased hunger, lack of concentration, and headaches. Soon, people around them begin to suffer for what they do not have any contribution to because the person suffering from sugar withdrawal would begin to suffer mood swings, and extreme temper. If I know someone who is about to quit sugar, I guess the best advise for me would be to leave the home so I do not begin to suffer for what I have no idea about.

While sugar consumption lead to the release of Dopamine (the feel good hormone) serotonin, and endorphins but then it causes the bad gut microbiome to develop in the gut as they are available to consume sugar.

With sugar detox, the patient can suffer symptoms like insomnia, nausea, chills, and also experience vomiting but trust me when I say you will be fine although, when cutting down on sugar is not the best time to cut down on everything like sport and so on, so it doesn't affect you psychologically as your brain needs to be fed in other ways.

When you intend to cut down on sugar, leave the food with natural sugar in them like your fruit but you should cut down on edibles with added sugar like bread, yogurt, tomato source and so on and you will be surprised at how much calorie you would lose.

While sugar cannot directly make you sick, it plays a major role in certain sickness as it can lead to chronic inflammation in the body reducing the body immune response to certain infections and diseases. People suffering from diabetes can see great improvement by cutting down on sugar. Also wrinkling of the body can be reduced when people cut down on sugar as glycation occurs when Sugar affects the production of collagenand elastin I the body.

One Thing that people say in Nigeria is that sugar intake can affect one’s sex life and a lot of people believe it, well less sugar intake increases energy, as well as libido in the body making a person more likely to want to have sex, and the insulin spike which occurs as a result of high sugar intake is a culprit when talking about erectile dysfunction. If you are finding it hard to sleep, then sugar might be a culprit as sugar before bedtime can increase stress hormones, leading to increased night sweat.

Cutting down on sugar isn’t something you should debate about if you are concerned about your physical, and mental well-being, although the first few days or weeks can be challenging but it's result is worth it. When you are cutting down on sugar, remember that it has one important benefit and that is energy production.
