Thistle is an interesting genus.
One strange problem is that people migrating around the world have transported the thistle from their native lands to their new homes. This means that many of the thistles one encounters in the wild are invasive.
The invasive thistle often displaces the native thistle which isn't good for the native fauna that co-evolved with the displace thistle.
When studying thistle is interesting to study the origins of the plant.
