Because the frost date is late here in this growing region, we have to be careful to not start our seeds too early. Today is a good day to begin some frost-resistant plants. This year we're going to try growing rice!

I'm sure rice is not a challenging plant to grow, considering how abundant this plant has been cultivated over thousands of years. This will be our first try growing rice, it will be interesting learning about it. Also interesting learning how much rice we will get from 60 plants!

It sounds like a lot of plants, but rice is essentially a grass. So 60 blades of grass isn't really all that much.

We're growing heirloom variety, from a Michigan gardener, so this should be well suited for our climate.
