We Are Alive! December 10th, 2022 Waterfalls

Today has been a restful day. We slept in and had a late breakfast. Then we got everyone ready for lunch and bible study in the afternoon.

Before we left, the children were playing with blocks and built waterfalls. I like the attention to detail, the pine trees, the white foam, the long multiple drops.

Where do they come up with this stuff?

Now the Sabbath has come to a close and it's time for the post-sabbath cleanup. It seems as if we do a lot of cleaning, but it shouldn't be too surprising with six little ones.

My niece and nephew came around, so is babysitting and doing other stuffs.

Hello my friend! 😊

Our weekend was cold and busy here, which is odd as we didn't really do anything special or go anywhere. We just spent the weekend cooking pumpkins and their seeds, feeding the leftover skins to the chickens and our bull Prince Lee. He really loves pumpkins, they're second only to apples, which we also give him as treats throughout our colder months, we also made four different types of cookies to enjoy and watched our squirrels and feathered friends from inside the house where it was toasty, thanks to our wood stove. 😊

I spent Sunday morning cleaning up my house and the afternoon bottling a new batch of homebrew beer with my handsome husband, then we just chilled inside where it was warm for the evening and now Monday's here again, oh joy. LOL! 😊

Sounds like a very productive weekend. Our family enjoys eating pumpkins, we see so many of our neighbors wasting perfectly fine food in October, letting it rot on their porches. The homebrew sounds wonderful, I've made wine, but I haven't tried my hand making beer. I have the ingredients, I just have to give it a go.

It was, but it was also very tiring and I'm grateful my handsome husband is here to do the heavy lifting and lugging, though I did move some stuff on my own that I probably shouldn't have, but I'm a stubborn redheaded Irish Canadian and when we want something moved we want it moved. LOL! 😊

We aren't big wine drinkers here and only drink the beer for our gut health, it doesn't have a high alcohol content and it's helped me a lot with my gut health to be honest. 😊

I've been cooking our pumpkins, one (or half of one for the really big ones,) every few days and enjoying the pumpkin seeds as my evening snack when I get the munchies. The pumpkin gets cooked, pureed and either turned into powder or frozen for pie filling later on. The bull and chickens all love getting the guts and the bits and skin chunks that are left over when I'm done. This is the first year that I'm going to be able to get them all cooked before any go bad, so that's an accomplishment for me. 😊

I imagine that beer bottling and wine bottling are quite similar, though length of time for a batch to age may vary. We find it a nice way to spend an afternoon, turn on some upbeat tunes, get everything set up and bottle away for an hour or two with someone you love, it really is a great family hobby. LOL! 😊

We want to learn how to make it from the barley stage instead of using the canned mix from a company eventually, but never got around to it this year. 😊
