The mysteries of the mind have always interested me. Those enigmatic processes involved in the formation of ideas in our minds have always fascinated me.

I find a lot of magic in that capacity of thought to be timeless; in fractions of seconds we can think of things that have happened in the past or visualize them in an uncertain future, all that seems wonderful to me. That is why I find it irresistible to read articles and informative books that deal with topics related to the brain and neurosciences.

When I read the list of topics that friend @galankp leaves us this week to motivate writing I didn't hesitate much in making the selection, the topic of Déjà vu immediately caught my attention.

I'm not sure if my experience corresponds exactly to whatever Déjà vu is, but it must be pretty close.

I am also not sure how many times I will have felt that impression, nor do I remember exactly since when I have been aware of it, sometimes it seems to me that I have felt it forever, as if something triggered a loop that leads me to relive an experience that probably never happened.

Sometimes when I am walking down a city street there is something that catches my attention, it can be a smell or some object that seems out of context. At that moment and for a few seconds a break occurs in my mind, I feel that the path where I am going is interrupted and I enter another reality where I find a very familiar scene, where there is a kind of coffee shop and many people talking animatedly, but what impresses me is that I see it as if I were outside, just as you see a movie at the cinema or on TV.

When I return to reality I feel quite disturbed because I know that something incomprehensible to me has happened. I know that this has happened to me many times and not only walking the streets of my city but in other places as well. It is a situation that fills me with bewilderment.

To calm my anguish when these events happen to me I think that it is the evocation of some dream, because the scene I see has a lot of dreamlike, it is as if I were suddenly daydreaming. Fortunately that sensation is so fleeting that it has not caused me any problems, I have not bumped into anyone nor have I been on the verge of being run over.

I have done my best to try to understand if what I see is some kind of message, but so far I have not been able to interpret anything. I've also tried to dig into my memory to see if it might be some childhood memory, but the place, its light, its atmosphere and the people sitting there don't really tell me anything.

One of the things that motivated me to write about this topic is that I recently had that strange experience again.

I was on my way from my house to the bakery, I looked to the right where there is a store selling eyeglasses and I felt that something didn't fit. Suddenly I felt that the scene of the café was repeating itself again and I was there looking at those people who did not notice me at all, nobody realized that I was looking at them, it was obvious that I was looking at them from a different dimension from where they were.

So far I have not felt the need to talk about this matter with a doctor or psychologist. In truth, these episodes are so sporadic that they do not alter my routines at all, nor do they distract me more than necessary.

Had it not been one of this week's topics, I might not have been encouraged to write about it.

As I pointed out at the beginning, I know that our mind has many mysteries, I have long accepted that this is so, I also accepted that there are issues that escape my understanding and that I should not spend more time on them than strictly necessary.
