The survival rate in most countries today is not just what most people can handle at the moment. As every day passes, the unpredictable keeps happening. The normal routine in which people survive keeps changing, with situations getting more complicated and unbearable. Attesting to that, living in Nigeria is just so demanding at the moment. This was a country where commodities and the cost of living were at their barest minimums. I remember being told by my dad how 8 naira saw him through school and how money at that range was used to purchase a reasonable amount of items and settle bills. Today everything is even getting worse: the same salary but increased prices for groceries and mobility, a case where everyone is suffering today.

I was in a trycycle yesterday when the rider brought up a conversation about how expensive petrol is and how hard it is to even see who is ready to sell out this petrol and at the end said my current location to school would no longer be the current price. This is a distance where I started paying N50 naira (the Nigerian currency), and today they are saying it should be N150. How can a student survive this? The daily expenses being doubled or three times the formal value, the source of generating this money to survive in school is limited, and sponsors are complaining over the demanding cost of training a child in school.

How hard has the country become?

The whole thing isn't only affecting the poor; the wealthy ones are also feeling the heat. The blame is then attributed to government officials, bodies that are in a position to serve. Of course they share in the major cause of how the country is.

How are the rich affected?

Well, the new currency today limits the rate of withdrawal, causing frequent trips to the bank and ATM stands. I wouldn't say POS will help because even POS agents are suffering today. The queue in banks is one of its kinds; before one can be attended to, one is waiting for hours, affecting the activities of individuals. All these to help fight against fraudulent activities, in turn cause suffering. We all hope for the best, but in the meantime, hive is going back to normal.
