No matter how depressing it may seem.....

Dealing with being rejected is usually hard for everyone because it always tampers with emotions. Emotions are always internal but have huge effects on our physical appearance, surroundings, and engagement. On several occasions when I experienced being rejected, the experience has not been fun; the depression that comes with it most of the time, the shame, frustration, and mental instability. Being rejected always comes with a lot of questions that are left unanswered.

Just as everyone is always happy when something good happens or their targets are met, so does everyone feel worried after a refusal. I didn't have anything to worry about as my needs were met, not until I asked for something from my Dad and he intentionally refused to buy one of the toys I asked for. So funny, my memory lane has taken me back to those childhood days. This is something I will never forget, but I don't think my dad still remembers the whole scene I created. It was one of the week days, I asked for one of the toys and he refused to get it. I got really angry as a child, I no longer went close to him and my dad wasn't concerned with my attitude.

The reason why I was behaving so was that I had never asked for something from him and he failed to get it for me. Seeing my Dad was not worried with what he did, I kept being upset with him until weekend. I thought of a way to really show him I was not happy and ended up deciding not to go to church.

My Dad is really religious. He will never miss every church activity or miss church if not for any critical projects. That was the only way to trap him, when it was time for church, I started crying and he asked why I was crying and I told him I would not go to church unless he buys the toy. My mom and siblings started to plead for my dad. Me I didn't listen to their own sha, I needed him to say something. After sometime, he came and made me understand reason why he didn't get what I wanted.

Here I was made to understand how life works sometimes.

In his words, he said "it is not everything you want in life that comes so easy."

I never understood any of the words he said at the moment. After some years, I started seeing the impact that particular scene had in my life. As a child, most of the toys are not that expensive, but as a teenager, you would see your friends with expensive things. When at this point, your parents can't meet up with your demands, you may be tempted to steal.

From the scene

  • I learnt, it is important to put in more work to any of your engagements and be very strategic so that asking from someone that will even lead to rejection, will be the least option.

  • Contentment is another thing I learned, considering the way things are trending and how demanding it is in life today. Contentment is the best approach of living a free life.

Being rejected, brings about depression but no matter how it may feel, accept the fact that you are depressed and look for a way to make things easy on yourself.

Ya in life there are times we won't get what we want at the same time we want it, so may come late some we need concious effort to get it. Thanks.

Yeah!!!
The effort we put in matters alot.
That may help limit rejection as well 🤥

Your Dad was right in his words. Indeed not everything we want in life comes easy. Everyone experiences rejection but the best way to come out of it it to move on rather than dwelling in your failures.

This I started realizing after that moment but more as an adult, and as well a form of guidance and encouragement.

If everything we want in life come so easy then there won't be need to work so hard.

Thanks for sharing.
