Waraira Repano National Park, formerly known as El Avila, is one of the most important protected natural areas in Venezuela. It is located in the Cordillera de la Costa, specifically in the north central part of the country, between the states of Miranda, La Guaira and the Capital District, It forms a natural barrier that divides the central coast and its immense Caribbean Sea from the city of Caracas, which is located in its southern facade, nestled in a small valley of wooded characteristics, which for centuries has served as a natural defense and at the same time provides the capital city with one of the most enviable climates in the world.

El Parque Nacional Waraira Repano, antiguamente denominado el Ávila, es uno de los espacios naturales protegidos más conocidos he importantes de Venezuela, se ubica en la Cordillera de la Costa, específicamente en el centro norte del país, entre los estados Miranda, La Guaira y el Distrito Capital, formando una barrera natural que divide al litoral central y su inmenso Mar Caribe de la ciudad de Caracas, la cual se encuentra en su fachada sur enclavada en un pequeño valle de características boscosas, lo cual por siglos le ha servido como defensa natural y al mismo tiempo le brinda a la ciudad capital unos de los climas más envidiables a nivel mundial.

The inhabitants of Caracas feel the Waraira Repano National Park as a fundamental part of their cultural identity, these mountains have become the lungs of the capital and at the same time provide the opportunity for millions of people to approach their spaces and enjoy direct contact with nature. There are many ways to know these spaces, you can ascend on foot, by jeep or through a modern cable car system, in this opportunity my tour was through the latter option, which is very popular and is usually the one that attracts more tourists, due to the services that can be found, the beautiful scenery that gives us the tour and the speed with which you reach the summit.

Los habitantes de Caracas sienten al Parque Nacional Waraira Repano como parte fundamental de su identidad cultural, esas montañas se han convertido en el pulmón de la capital y al mismo tiempo les brindan la posibilidad a millones de personas de acercarse a sus espacios y poder disfrutar de un contacto directo con la naturaleza. Existen muchas formas de conocer estos espacios, se puede ascender a pie, en jeep o por medio de un moderno sistema teleférico, en esta oportunidad mi recorrido fue por medio de esta última opción, la cual es muy popular y suele ser la que más turistas atrae, debido a los servicios que se pueden encontrar, los lindos paisajes que nos regala el recorrido y la rapidez con la cual se llega a la cumbre.

I have always liked the idea of flying, looking at the city from above, passing over the trees and seeing the clouds up close is an experience that I find incredible, for that reason the cable car seemed great, leaving the Maripérez station at about 1. The magical journey begins at about 3.5 kilometers above sea level and lasts a little more than 15 minutes and from where you can progressively appreciate the immensity of the city of Caracas, it is a view that runs from east to west and which can be enjoyed to the fullest thanks to the eight-passenger cabins that have panoramic windows, gradually the capital moves away and in the blink of an eye we are arriving at Pico el Avila a destination that is located at 2. 144 meters above sea level and is usually surrounded by clouds, cold and fog.

Siempre me ha gustado la idea de volar, mirar la ciudad desde lo alto, pasar por encima de los arboles y ver las nubes de cerca es una experiencia que me parece increíble, por esa razón el teleférico me parecía genial, saliendo de la estación Maripérez a unos 1.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar comienza un recorrido mágico de más o menos 3 kilómetros y medio el cual tiene una duración de un poco más de 15 minutos y desde donde progresivamente se puede apreciar la inmensidad de la ciudad de Caracas, se trata de una vista que recorre de este a oeste y la cual se puede disfrutar a plenitud gracias a las cabinas de ocho pasajeros que cuentan con ventanas panorámicas, poco a poco la capital se aleja y en un parpadeo estamos llegando al Pico el Ávila un destino que se encuentra a 2.144 metros sobre el nivel del mar y que suele estar rodeado de nubes, frio y mucha neblina.

This trip was planned in the company of two great friends, who come from the interior of the country and wanted to live the most of their stay in Caracas, they turned out to be the perfect companions, as their adventurous spirit and the desire to know new horizons led them to enjoy this experience in an incredible way, so without fear of the cold we started to walk and explore all our surroundings. Once you leave the station we find a long walkway, which runs from east to west and goes along the edge of the mountain, on its sides we can find a large stone wall, which on its south side is perfect to sit and at the same time admire the capital and the north side we can see the immensity of the Caribbean Sea and the small town of Galipan, there are also numerous food stalls, some restaurants and many places selling sweets and souvenirs.

Este viaje fue planeado en compañía de dos grandes amigos, los cuales vienen del interior del país y querían vivir al máximo su estadía en Caracas, ellos resultaros ser los compañeros perfectos, ya que su espíritu aventurero y las ganas de conocer nuevos horizontes los llevo a disfrutar de esta experiencia de una forma increíble, es así como sin temerle al frio comenzamos a caminar y a explorar todo nuestro entorno. Una vez que se sale de la estación nos encontramos con un una larga caminería, que circula de este a oeste y va por todo el borde de la montaña, a sus lados podemos encontrar un gran muro de piedra, el cual en su lado sur es perfecto para sentarse y al mismo tiempo admirar la capital y del lado norte podemos contemplar la inmensidad del Mar Caribe y el pequeño pueblo de Galipán, además también existen numerosos puestos de comida, algunos restaurantes y muchos lugares de venta de golosinas y recuerdos.

There are prices for all tastes, but in general the food wherever you buy it is very tasty, the tour is very nice and along the way we can find various cultural displays that enhance our nationality, At the end of the boulevard we can find the Humboldt Hotel, a jewel of Venezuelan architecture and today is one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, another thing that draws much attention is to find a huge and very high flag of Venezuela who with its beautiful colors breaks with the coldness of the sky and gives us an extraordinary image.

Existen precios para todos los gustos, pero en general la comida donde quiera que se compre resulta ser muy sabrosa, el recorrido es muy agradable y a lo largo del camino podemos encontrar diversas muestras culturales que enaltecen nuestra nacionalidad, al final del bulevar podemos encontrar al Hotel Humboldt una joya de la arquitectura venezolana y que hoy en día es uno de los hoteles mas lujosos de la ciudad, otra cosa que llama mucho la atención es encontrar una enorme y muy alta bandera de Venezuela quien con sus lindos colores rompe con la frialdad del cielo y nos regala una imagen extraordinaria.
