Hello everyone and all members of ASEAN Hive Community, how are you today? I hope and pray that we are all always in good health and also patient in living this life. Patience makes it easier for us to be grateful for what happens in each of our lives.

I've heard a wise quote "Happy people are people who are easy to be grateful for everything", and hopefully the members of ASEAN Hive Coomunity are people who are always grateful. This time, I want to re-participate in this community to share experiences and stories that might be an inspiration or entertainment to my friends here.

Culinary at Night
A few days ago, my wife and I went to watch a movie at the cinema at 20.15 pm or the last screening. The duration of the movie was about two hours and I came out of the cinema building at 11 pm. I have one disease in my life, if I don't sleep at 10 pm, then I will feel pain in my stomach, which people often call hunger. Yup, after watching the movie, I became very hungry.

I am lucky to live in Indonesia, our country is not an ideal country. There is a lot of corruption in government, nepotism, and also very vicious netizens commenting on social media. However, one thing I am grateful for while living in Indonesia and Medan City, my city is relatively safe and many people usually make culinary business at night. We can only find night food in a safe country, try to imagine if it is possible in a country that is always in conflict and war we can find various night culinary vendors.

Food Outlet - Mie Aceh Arang 73
The hunger I experienced at night brought me to one of the favorite foods of the Indonesian people at night. I decided to eat Acehnese noodles at Mie Aceh Arang 73, one of the Acehnese noodle outlets not far from the cinema building. This culinary outlet is open almost 24 hours if not the death of the workers.

Mie Aceh Arang 73 sells a variety of food menus at low prices and the taste is definitely delicious. All the food we order, is cooked after the order comes in so we will always get warm and delicious food served at our table. For the food menu, there are Aceh noodles with various choices of flavorings such as Aceh crab noodles, Aceh squid noodles, Aceh meat noodles, spicy Indomie soup, fried rice, fried chicken, egg martabak, etc. For drinks, this food vendor provides ice tea, soda, milk tea, coffee and also TST (egg milk tea), one of Indonesia's favorite hot drinks.

Spicy and Gravy Mie Aceh
I ordered Mie Aceh which was cooked with gravy and one glass of TST. The Aceh noodles that I ordered came not too long, because the cooking process is also very fast. Mie Aceh dish is one of the favorite foods of many people in Indonesia. Mie Aceh comes from the province of Aceh and spread quickly to various provinces in Indonesia, one of which is in Medan.

There is a dark history that may be related to the popularity of this food in Indonesia. Aceh province was once designated as a military operation area by the Indonesian government to overcome the rebellion that wanted the province to be independent. I don't want to talk about it, but I know several people who have experienced and suffered with this military operation looking for a new life in various cities in Indonesia, one of which is the province of North Sumatra which is directly adjacent to the province of Aceh.

Mie Aceh is at first glance like any other noodle dish, but once you try it, I can assure you that you will know the difference with other noodle dishes. Mie aceh has a delicious and complex taste. The ground spices use a spice composition, so the taste is very sharp, strong and certainly delicious on our tongues. I ordered a slightly soupy noodle that night and if you want to try an Acehnese noodle that is more spicy, the Acehnese noodle soup variant might be suitable and I can recommend it.

Mie Aceh dish uses yellow noodles made homemade. The thing that distinguishes it from other noodles is that Aceh noodles don't last long because they don't use preservatives. According to my friend, Aceh noodles only last six hours at room temperature. I eat very voraciously, if I were asked to make 10 of my favorite Indonesian foods, I would definitely include Acehnese noodles.

Egg Milk Tea
It started raining that night, and it matched my drink very well too. I ordered a glass of egg milk tea as my dining companion this time. Egg Milk Tea is a signature hot drink that we often find in traditional Indonesian coffee shops. The composition of this drink uses black tea, sweet thick creamer, sugar and egg yolks. The way of making it is also simple, egg yolks and sugar will be whipped until foamy then brewed with tea and added sweet thick creamer.

According to people, this drink is like an herbal drink that can increase stamina and relieve fatigue. However, as an alumnus of the faculty of animal husbandry, I understand that this drink is unhealthy and very high in sugar. Can you imagine, sugar and sweet thick? That's just how many calories. In addition, raw egg yolks can potentially be contaminated with salmonella bacteria, and Indonesia does not yet have egg products that are guaranteed to be free of salmonella bacteria. I enjoy every sip of this hot drink, even though I know it's unhealthy.
