Grama Sphere Coffee - New Cafe in My City With Unique Design and Different From Other Places
Hello everyone and all members of Architecture+Design Community, how are you guys today? I pray and hope that all of us are always given health, happiness and also patience in living this life. This time, I want to participate again in this community to write about interesting and unique buildings in the city where I live.
This time, the trip took me to one of the new viral cafes in my city. What's so interesting about this cafe or restaurant? why go viral and have a lot of visitors? let's discuss.
Grama Sphere Coffee
Grama Sphere Coffee is located at Sei Serayu Street no. 54 Medan City. The location of this cafe or restaurant is very strategic, because it is on the edge of a busy road that is traversed by vehicles. In addition, many campuses, schools and offices are located around this road area. Of course, as a new coffee shop or cafe located on the side of the road, of course this cafe must have something special to make people interested and come here.
From the entrance, we can see a magnificent and unique building. Grama Sphere is a restaurant or café that will make an impression on every visitor. We will see a large cream-colored building with a shape like two cans of biscuits put together that looks monotonous but very impressive because it is different from the existing cafes.
Grama Sphere has two interesting design concepts for us to discuss. The outdoor part of this café is the main attraction for visitors. The outdoor room uses an Industrial café design concept with a natural touch. This café uses many plants such as bamboo, small trees and grass to create a green and different feel.
The outdoor room also has two different floors but I think it's very pretty. The first floor, using cement made with the size of a rectangle with green grass as a barrier. The color of the cement from the floor with the color of the core building combined with the green of the grass makes a very coherent and beautiful architectural unit. The second type of floor used is small pebbles, which are used in the rear outdoor room. The use of pebbles as a substitute for dirt floors is often used recently by coffee shops or coffeeshops, the aim is to create a natural impression in a building or building.
The distance between the chairs in this outdoor room is also very fitting, because they are made far from each other, so that visitors will be comfortable to visit. In addition, the wide distance will also help workers and waiters to deliver food. Comfort is also a very important factor for a café or public space. Cafés can sell good food or drinks, but if visitors are not comfortable or feel at home there, this cafe or restaurant can lose to other restaurants or cafes that are more comfortable and have delicious menus.
Now, we will enter the interior of this building from this café or restaurant. Entering the inside of the Gamma Sphere we will see one thing that is different. The entrance door is very uniquely designed, oval in shape and with transparent glass doors. Next, we will look at an indoor café that is designed to be minimalist and chic. The floor using dark marble feels very coherent with the white roof and floor.
The thing that really impressed me here was the combination of furniture and various ornaments made or installed in this café. Wooden furniture will always be suitable for any design concept and is always the first choice. Besides that, the ornaments and wall hangings on display are also very interesting, there are pots with wooden sticks, hanging bookshelves, and also a large mirror in the corner of the room which is often used as a place to take pictures by visitors.
One important factor for a room and building is good lighting. All ornaments or furniture used will not look optimal if they do not get enough light. Gamma Sphere seems to have really paid attention to that, this cafe does not only rely on lamplight but takes advantage of sunlight during the day.
The shape and window frames used in this café are also interesting for us to discuss. The window used is large and box-shaped, in the afternoon the sun will enter and also create shadows on the frame that make an impression when you see it. When we sit at a table near the window, we will be able to observe the outside of this café. One more thing, the sunlight that enters the window is the afternoon sun which is not too hot and stinging.
I believe every era has its own characteristics for buildings or architecture. Likewise with the design and architecture of a café or restaurant, which continues to evolve with changes wait time. Design creativity is also influenced by trends and business competition so that it can attract visitors. Like Grama Sphere Coffee, this café has just opened at the end of 2021 but has managed to create a positive impression for every visitor. The customers, will enjoy delicious food and take pictures as much as they want with a cool background and of course instagramable.

Friend @isdarmady this is a coffee shop with a very modern design and the interior and exterior ambiance very nice, no doubt those large windows, the decoration and the vegetation present a very attractive concept. I am sure that you as a coffee expert know more than me about the coffee they serve in this nice place. Thanks for showcasing Grama Sphere Coffee, another great place in your city. Blessings!
hello @sorprendente thank you for stopping by
Coffee shops with unique and attractive building designs always manage to create an impression for their visitors, especially in the era of social media where many people need content to be displayed.
I really like the design of this coffee shop, those cookie tins as you called it make an elegant and modern composition. Thanks for sharing it, I would definitely have a nice cup of coffee in this place.
thank you for stopping by @doriangel
Yup, this coffee shop is very popular because of its design. When I arrived, there were several teenage girls taking pictures around it. All parts of this coffee shop can be a background for cool photos.

Hm, I somehow cannot see this, or my imagination is not developed enough for that 🤔😄
However, that's really an exceptional modern building, dear @isdarmady, having in my opinion either futuristic design or a very ancient cave-like design or similar to the old stone buildings that were traditional in much of the world in the very distant past. 😊 I absolutely love these simple, yet very interesting shapes, as well as the uncomplicated contrast and the minimalistic touch of the interior.
You have described with great precision the most important aspects that must be observed in the design of an establishment, and here it seems that all this has been respected, since even the reviews for this cafe on the Internet are largely positive. 😊
hahaha, the shape of the classic biscuit tin in Indonesia is like a box with slightly circular corners so it's not sharp. Maybe it's hard to imagine. but in essence, minimalism is the key here.
wow, that's a very interesting imagination huh. I think that's very true, cave-shaped buildings like the past are more innovative and modern. Yup, almost all the reviews on the internet are very positive. Everyone enjoys and relaxes in this coffee shop, there is not a single place that can be taken as a photo object for visitors here.
It seems the ideal place to spend an afternoon with your friends chatting and joking, enjoy a good coffee made with a machine in a very modern infrastructure.
thank you for stopping by @rosz
that's right, it's a very fitting place to relax with family and friends in the afternoon. The coffee and the atmosphere are great.
I love the minimalist design of the cafe, it looks so neat.
This coffee shop looks luxurious and elegant. I think thats why they are different with other coffee places. Love how they design to take advantage of the sun light. How was your coffee? Was it good?
hello @dora381
thank you for stopping by
This coffee shop is indeed very elegant, almost all visitors come to enjoy the atmosphere and also of course with the food and drink menu. the coffee is also very good and of good quality, I plan to discuss it in a special post.
oh I see, will wait for your next post :)
Impressive coffee shop dear @isdarmady. And who wouldn't be intrigued by that cafe's name of Grama Sphere right? - sounds like a space-age theme from a movie. 😁 What fascinates me is the building's monolithic approach in construction, sporting a dominant exterior color and finish with the interior chambers appearing like being carved out from a single piece of stone. Even its windows look peculiar and away from the traditional shapes. All these architectural elements provided that establishment its distinctive minimalistic aesthetic. 😊
Were you able to research who the Architect and Interior Designer of this epic cafe are?
thank you for stopping by @storiesoferne
Grama Sphere is indeed a unique name, I am trying to find out what the elements and meanings of the unique name are. His name is very catch phrase and easy to remember after hearing it.
Actually, one of the owners of this coffee shop was a friend of mine in elementary school but I'm sure he won't remember either. I tried to find information, it turned out that the design and architecture was done by a third-party consultant who was brought in from Jakarta. I think, soon there will be many coffee shops that imitate this concept in my city.
Okay, I see. It's interesting to know that a non-local consultant was hired to conceptualize and build that cafe. They did a remarkable project, by the way! And as you said, I'm pretty sure a lot of aspiring coffee shop owners would also be inspired by that peculiar but beautiful design. 😊
yup, for some reason our city is still very dependent on creative experts from the capital (Jakarta), maybe the architects from our city haven't had the chance. but it's natural, education and knowledge in the national capital is better than in the provincial capital.
thanks for the positive response @storiesoferne
Exactly. That's a common occurrence especially in rapidly emerging cities that are on the verge of architectural development. The tendency to depend on more experienced professionals especially in the highly sophisticated field of architecture is clearly imminent. Until your next epic post, have lots of fun @isdarmady. 😊

I liked the acquisition of the building, very fresh and modern, the selocia in one of the walls caught my attention; in addition to flying buttresses projecting up and down; I liked the coffee.
and of course your publication, thanks for showing us the country.
