Hello everyone and all members of Hive Garden, how are you guys today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health, patience and also the strength to live this life.

Consciously or not, the food crisis is in front of our eyes. Some countries that depend on exports for their food experience inflation and make it difficult for the community because prices are increasing and income is fixed. Perhaps, the easiest way we can compare what we can get with 100 USD this year with 100 USD in three years ago. The way to prepare for the worst is to start planting commodities such as vegetables and fruits in our yards. Like I did with my hydroponic garden. This time, I want to share my activities this week in my hydroponic garden.

Pakchoy Harvest

Pakchoy Photo Before Harvest – 9 July 2022

As I told you last week, there are some of my vegetables that I will harvest this week, one of which is Pakchoy. Generally, pakchoy planted in the ground will be harvested at 40-50 days of age, at that time Pakchoy will be heavier (about 5-6 sticks for one kilogram) but the taste is less because it is more bitter and slightly hard. In terms of weight, farmers will benefit but consumers do not really like it.

I always harvest pakchoy younger than standard, I harvest it at 28-30 days of planting to get a more crunchy and sweet vegetable taste. Usually, to get one kilogram we need about 10-12 pakchoy sticks. To identify the pakchoy to be harvested, we can see from the shape of the lush, green leaves with healthy stems. In addition, the condition of vegetables must also grow evenly and uniformly to facilitate the harvesting process.

Garden Conditions After Harvest

I got about 15 kilograms of pakchoy this july. This is a very large number for one small farm. I sold it for IDR 20K (1.35 USD) for a kilogram of pakchoy, in total I got IDR 300K (15 USD). After this harvest process, I have also prepared new pakchoy seeds to maintain the consistency and sustainability of my hydroponic garden.

My hydroponic garden also still has pakchoy left in hydroponic media, there are about 200 planting holes that will be ready to be harvested in about 10 days. I maintain this pakchoy with a concentration of around 1000-1100 ppm and also spray vegetable pesticides regularly to prevent pest attacks.

Hydroponic Kangkong

How is the condition of my Kkangkong hydroponic? last week I told him that my kale would be harvested. Almost all of my kangkong has been harvested this week and maybe a little late. Friends can see some of my kangkong slightly bent or turned due to growing too tall.

Kangkong is a very fast vegetable to harvest, it only took me about 16-20 days after planting to get optimal pakchoy yields. In my opinion, for friends who want to learn the hydroponic system, kangkong is a vegetable that we must grow.

In the hydroponic system, after the harvest process we will clean the netpots that we use. Netpot is a plant pot medium with a small size of about 5-7 cm which is used in hydroponic installation holes. Netpot can be used continuously, with a lifespan of about 5-10 years. The netpot must be cleaned properly, the remnants of the root vegetables contained in the netpot can disturb the vegetables that are just about to be planted. Cleaning is quite easy, we just need to brush it lightly with water.

Verticultural Hydroponics

Vertical hydroponic or wall hydroponic is a popular hydroponic installation system because it only requires a small amount of land to use it. Making wall hydroponic installations is considered the most economical and inexpensive but to get good results, we must look at several important factors.

The most important factor for vegetables to thrive is sunlight. The risk of hydroponic walls is the limited sunlight that enters the hydroponic installation. Some of the walls of the buildings are very close together and the intensity of sunlight is also very limited. In the past, my hydroponic installation had sufficient sunlight, but since my neighbors built a two-story house, my vegetables grew slower. The plan is that after harvest, I will replace these vegetables with plants that do not require a lot of sunlight.

Make Hydroponic Installation
In addition to having a hydroponic garden, I also accept work to make hydroponic installations in the office, home or school. This week, I received an order to make a hydroponic installation to add to the garden decoration at Andaliman Hall, one of the city's favorite wedding halls. a me. This is the fourth installation order, this time they ordered a hydroponic installation with 200 planting holes.

Okay, this is my gardening story this week. Keep the spirit for friends and don't forget to drink water.
