Hello everyone and all members of cinnamon cup coffee community, how are you friends today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health, patience and happiness in living this life. This time, I want to participate to provide writings and information about coffee and coffee shops in my city.

The coffee shop business in Indonesia continues to grow and grow. This is in line with the high public interest in consuming coffee and also looking for open space as a place to work in this digital era. Two weeks ago, I met an old friend of mine at one of the food bazaars in my city. My friend gave me the info if he was going to open his own coffee shop. My friend's name is Hendra Sihite, he is a certified barista and has also been a manager at cafes and coffee shops in my city. I said it to let me know when and where the coffee shop would open.

Kede Awal – New Coffee Shop

My friend told me that his coffee shop had started operating last week. Not waiting long, I came to the new coffee shop to see and also taste the coffee served there. My friend chose the name “Kede Awal” for his new coffee shop. There is a special meaning, why he chose to use that name. In translation "Kede" can be interpreted as "Shop or Tavern" and "Initial" can be interpreted as "start or beginning". It can be said, this coffee shop is to start an adventure and a new life from the owner.

This coffee shop is located at Gaperta Ujung Street, right before the gates of Givency One Luxury Housing. The location is also very strategic because this road is passed by many people and is surrounded by many housing estates. This coffee shop uses the house as the main building and the courtyard is designed with industrial and garden concepts so that it is very beautiful and minimalist.

Benches and tables used a lot of cement construction. The gray color of the cement and crushed gravel in the yard is also very solid. I often see coffee shop design concepts like this in several coffee shops that I visited this year. My friend also planted some greenery and arranged it to make it look better and beautiful. I love the arrangement of this plant, especially the plant that resembles a banana leaf in the corner of the wall.

One of the things I love about my friend's coffee shop is its simplicity. The bar table is also very simple, located in the corner of the terrace of the house, the bar table is made of wood and painted black. The bar table is not permanent and can be changed position if desired.

My Choice of Coffee
Kede Awal Coffee Shop provides several choices of drink menus, namely coffee and non-coffee. For coffee, there are choices of espresso bases such as Americano, Latte, Cappucinho, Hazelnut Coffee, Mocca Coffee etc. as well as manual brews from some special Arabica coffee beans in Indonesia. For the non-coffee menu, tea and chocolate are also available. If you come to this coffee shop, my advice, friends, is to try manual brew from this coffee shop.

I was already planning to order a manual brew for my coffee this afternoon. I see that there are several choices of Arabica coffee beans with various post-harvest processes such as Gayo Arabica, Dolok Sanggul Arabica, Lintong Arabica and also Natural Dolok Sanggul. I chose Natural Dolok Sanggul coffee beans for me to drink this afternoon.

Manual Brew – Natural Dolok Sanggul

My friend immediately processed my order. That afternoon, the coffee shop had just opened and I was the first visitor. The coffee beans are ground with a manual coffee grinder, I asked why not using a coffee grinder machine. My friend's reason is that manual brew customers are usually people who already understand coffee and the brewing process. In addition, his two coffee grinders are filled with espresso blended coffee.

About 10 minutes, my order has come to my table. If you see, the results of brewing with manual brew have a different color from coffees with other brewing methods. The color of coffee is like the result of steeping tea, brown and lighter. Natural Process is one of the post-harvest processes of coffee bean processing. In a natural process, the coffee beans will be dried along with the coffee cherry skin to create high-tasting coffee beans.

I drink this coffee slowly, little by little. The taste of this coffee is very smooth, and also sweet (of course sweet fruit, don't imagine it's sweet like sugar) but there is a bit of bitterness during the after taste maybe because of the coffee fermentation process. In my opinion, this coffee is very suitable to be drunk by people who want to enjoy coffee without sugar. In addition, Susana in the afternoon and also the closeness with friends makes this coffee even more delicious to drink.

Hello @isdarmady,
I'm all for people being resourceful, and converting spaces, even if it's a section of your home into a coffee shop outlet is a great idea... as long as all hygiene and sanitisation requirements are met.
It's been a while since you spoke about the V60. The coffee looks awesome as usual, and I'd definitely take your advice upon the manual brew.
Thanks for stopping by:)
Have a great day!

thank you very much @millycf1976
Before the covid-19 pandemic, many of my friends' coffee shops used their homes and yards to become coffee shops. Unfortunately, the pandemic has closed many of these coffee shops. Sanitation and cleanliness are always well maintained, sometimes while still working I also often stop by for a nap at the coffee shop.

thanks for reminding, I think it's been a long time since I wrote about the V60. Today, I got wild civet coffee from my uncle, the taste is very unique. maybe, I will tell about it in the next post.

Congratulations to your friend for opening up a new shop. It takes a lot of courage to start one's own business. You're a good friend for supporting him as well.

The manual brew coffee is interesting. It really does have a much different color than traditional coffee. It sounds like it taste quite good too.

Every one of my friends opens a new business, such as a coffee shop or selling anything. I always try to buy and support them, as you said it's not easy to build a new business, they need our support and prayers.

This manual brew is so delicious, you should try it if you have the time and opportunity.

You have taken me with your publication to another magical place, it looks like it is just starting, but it looks very good, I like the name they have chosen and the tables they have built, I know that as they grow they will improve other aspects, but it is excellent for a relatively new coffee shop it looks great, I had seen that coffee in photos, but I had not read someone explaining or detailing the experience, thanks once again for taking me to travel with your publications.

I always try to write down my deep impressions and experiences when enjoying coffee or when I come to a coffee shop. For me, the best and easiest way to write is to use impressions from what we see, feel, and hear. It's great if friends are interested in my posts.

I've tasted many types of coffee, and have visited many places, but what I often miss is trying to enjoy manual brew coffee, it's a shame.

You should try it if the coffee shop provides manual brew coffee. Usually, the price of coffee is cheaper too. I like all types of coffee and never choose, it just depends on the mood.
