Matcha in the Afternoon at Kona Coffee & Eatery - A Story of Taking the Shelter in the Rain

IMG_4459.jpeg

Hello everyone
How are you today? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy, to be able to come back to Cinnamon Cup Coffee Community to share my stories and experiences about coffee, tea, and also coffee shops that I have visited. What story will I share this time? keep watching and don't go anywhere.

Some time ago, I had an interesting experience. In the afternoon, I was still on my way after delivering the goods and hydroponic equipment ordered by my customer. I was faced with cloudy weather conditions, the sky was black, and there was a sign that it would rain.

That afternoon, the highway I passed was very busy with all kinds of vehicles. Motorcycles, private cars, public transportation, buses, and also rickshaws, all of these vehicles are close to each other and want to get to their destination as soon as possible. Unfortunately, almost all directions on this highway are congested with vehicles. Well, that afternoon was indeed the time to go home from the office and head for home or another place that you wanted to go to.

It started raining that afternoon. I decided not to continue my journey, and find a comfortable shelter for me. At that time, I brought my macbook and was afraid that if I forced myself, I would get caught in the rain and damage my laptop. I stopped by Kona Coffee & Eatery.

Kona Coffee & Eatery
This coffee shop is located on Sipiso-piso Street, Medan Kota District – Medan City. The location is on a small road, but very strategic because it is in the middle of Medan City and in front of the Medan Al-Mahsun Grand Mosque. I often pass this small road to try to cut through traffic jams.

This coffee shop is not too big, the building is small with a large outdoor space. In addition to outdoor rooms, Kona Coffee & Eatery also has indoor and semi-outdoor rooms. I came when it was raining, and I couldn't sit in the outdoor or semi-outdoor places because the wind was blowing really hard. Finally I decided to sit in the indoor room.

The indoor room from Kona Coffee & Eatery only consists of three tables and one coffee bar. I decided to do some work while waiting for the rain to let up a bit.

Matcha
There was a funny and strange moment, when I wanted to order a drink at this coffee shop. The plan is for me to order a manual brew or a cup of warm coffee to accompany this gloomy afternoon. However, according to the barista who was on duty at the time. At the coffee bar, only bean coffee is available for milk coffee and there is no good quality coffee stock for brewing.

This coffee shop just opened at 4 pm, and it turned out that the coffee orders for this coffee shop arrived late because the courier who brought the coffee was raining too. Amidst the confusion, there were only three drink options that I could order, matcha, tea or chocolate. Finally, I ordered iced matcha.

Why did I order Matcha? I don't have a definite reason either. However, I remember a message from my friend. If you want to make beautiful and aesthetic drink photos, matca is the right object.

My drink order finally came to my table. I want to prove that theory. I tried to take some photos of this cold glass of matcha, from various angles and backgrounds.

How do you guys see it? looks cool? This combination of matcha and fresh milk creates a very cool color composition for the drink. There is a very real line between green and white, when the drink is not stirred.

How about the taste? ah, I think it's too sweet for my taste. I was just on a whim to order matcha here, but I have plans to stop by this coffee shop again but when it's sunny and not raining. One more thing that is most important, I want to try coffee from this coffee shop on my next visit.
