Hello everyone and All members of Hive Garden Community, how are you all? I hope all of us are always healthy and happy going through the routine and every job. As usual, every Monday I will always share stories about the development of hydroponic vegetables in the Hydroponic Installation in my garden. This week has been very tiring for me, because I am replanting into many hydroponic media that I have.

For this planting period, I only focus on several types of vegetables, namely lettuce, pakchoy, kangkong and samhong. This is because, I got a partnership to sell hydroponic vegetables at a good price but he asked me to focus on the four types of vegetables.

Make Stock of Hydroponic Liquid Fertilizer

Based on my experience, there are three important components that determine the success of growing vegetables hydroponically. First, the hydroponic media or hydroponic installations that we have must get constant sunlight for 6-8 hours (or more it doesn't matter). Sunlight is very important for living things and also vegetables because it is needed for the process of photosynthesis. If your hydroponic vegetables lack sunlight, it is marked by the condition of the vegetables being unbalanced and thin.

Second, we must choose the best and high quality vegetable seeds for us to plant. There are many brands of seeds on the market, but I have one that I always use. In addition, we must pay attention to the expiration date of the seeds, I once planted vegetable seeds that were past the expiration date and could not grow optimally.

Third, we must use liquid fertilizers that match the needs of the vegetables we grow. I bought hydroponic fertilizer from my friend, a botanist. He makes hydroponic liquid fertilizer compositions according to the area and geography in our city. In the past, I bought hydroponic fertilizer from Java, and at certain times my hydroponic vegetables could burn because of the effect.

I always stock up on liquid fertilizer in 100 liter containers, the goal is to make it easier for me to add liquid fertilizer to my hydroponic media that runs out of water. I made a hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a content of 1200ppm.

Pakchoy or Bok Choi
Pakchoy is a popular vegetable in Indonesia, many people like this vegetable because it can be cooked easily. Pakchoy is very often used as food, especially for Asian people. This vegetable is very easy to grow, and has a high commercial value when harvested.

I planted about 450 pakchoy seeds in my hydroponic medium. I use liquid fertilizer with a concentration of 1100 ppm, this concentration is still suitable for pakchoy because according to the literature I read, Pakchoy requires a concentration of 1000-1400 ppm to grow optimally.

Kangkong
Who of you know this vegetable? This vegetable has an elongated shape and a crunchy and delicious taste. Generally, kangkong is cooked by frying with a little oil, oyster sauce, belacan and also basic spices such as onions, tomatoes, garlic.

I planted about 400 kangkong seeds in my hydroponic medium. Kangkong has a bee-shaped and elongated root. When we want to grow these vegetables, we have to make the root position submerged by the water in the hydroponic media. If this vegetable lacks water, it can adversely affect the development of the kangkong.

Lettuce
Everyone knows this vegetable. Lettuce is one of the most popular vegetables in many countries. Many people use lettuce to help enhance the appearance of their meal, and lettuce is also considered a great vegetable for salads. I planted 400 seeds of lettuce, hoping to get 33 kg of lettuce at harvest time, and I will sell it for IDR 20K. Of course I am very happy, when the vacant land at home can be used and make a little money.

To grow and care for these vegetables is very easy, I have never failed while growing lettuce. However, we need a little attention because lettuce requires water with a concentration of 600-800 ppm ppm, thus making it different from other vegetables which require water with a concentration of 1000-1400 ppm. If the ppm concentration is too high, it will be marked by a burnt lettuce condition.

Samhong

As I often say, this is a favorite vegetable in my city since early 2021. The influence of Korean pop culture has made this vegetable very popular and its demand continues to increase every month.

Mint Leaves

One of my toughest jobs in the last week, was repairing and tidying up a hydroponic installation for mint leaves. As you know, and if you've ever read my hydroponic journal. Mint Leaf is one of the plants that I grow and sell regularly. Looks neater doesn't it?

Okay, this is My Hydroponic Journal this time. As you can see in the photo below, all the hydroponic media that I have are filled with vegetable seeds. Looks like, next week the seeds will grow and I'll be back shooting from this angle, to give you comparisons. If you have any questions about hydroponics, or how to grow vegetables, I'll be happy to help as best I can.
