Hello Gardeners
How are you today ? may we all always be given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy, given the time and also the opportunity to return to participate in the HiveGarden Community to share my stories and gardening experiences in my hydropnic garden.

As friends all know, since I have been actively writing on this platform. Content about my hydroponic garden is one of my consistent regular posts. I am also very happy, because I can share my hobbies and simple knowledge about hydroponic farming systems in this community and hope to inspire other friends. So, what are my activities in the hydroponic garden this week? keep watching my post below.

A Week's Highlight in Hydroponic Gardens

During this week the weather in my city is still the same as in previous weeks. The sun was still shining so brightly that it made people overheated during the day. Hot weather during the day makes water evaporation in the hydroponic media high. We must diligently control and check the amount of water in our hydroponic growing media. However, it has started to rain in the afternoon or at night making the weather cooler and helping the vegetables to be fresher.

One important thing I did this week was to put rat poison in several places around my hydroponic garden. For information, mice are one of the pests that most often disturb vegetables in my hydroponic garden. I myself wonder why in 2023, I have to fight these rats. Even though it's been almost six years since I've been growing vegetables in my hydroponic garden, I've never found rats.

I put rat poison in the afternoon. From the literature I read, rats are animals that are active at night. I put rat poison in the pipe and hope the rats die peacefully and my cat doesn't eat the poison because I put it in the pipe. Actually, I have two domestic cats but believe me there are far more rats in my hydroponic garden.

Condition of Pakcoy in My Hydroponic Garden

IMG_5315 Large.jpeg
After looking briefly at the condition of my hydroponic garden in general, I invited my friends to see some of the vegetables that I grow in my hydroponic garden. I grow some vegetables in my hydroponic garden such as pakcoy, kangkong, lettuce and also mint leaves.

We discuss pakcoy first. This week, I harvested the remaining pakcoy in my hydroponic garden. I harvested on Tuesday morning, and still got about 5 kilograms of pakcoy. However, I still leave some stock of pakcoy in my hydroponic garden for my own consumption.

This week, I also did one hard and tiring job in my hydroopnic garden. I transferred the seeds to my hydroponic growing media. Each of these pakcoy seeds must be moved one by one to the netpot manually and I haven't been able to find another way to move them. I moved almost 600 pakcoy pots to hydroponic growing media. During this planting period, I prepared water for the planting medium plus hydroponic liquid fertilizer. Then, I set the concentration of the solution ppm in the hydroponic media to around 1000 ppm. We will see, how the development and growth of these vegetables in the next week.

Condition of Kangkong in My Hydroponic Garden

IMG_5306 Large.jpeg
Four days ago, I have harvested all the kangkong that I have grown in my hydroponic garden. During that planting period, I got about 12 kilograms of fresh kale for a very good price. Currently, I only have about 220 pots of kangkong in my hydroponic garden.

Based on my gardening schedule, I should have started seeding the kangkong this week. Unfortunately, the kangkong seeds that I ordered had not yet arrived, so I did not sow kangkong and was forced to let my hydroponic planting medium for kangkong be empty for the time being.

Conditions of Lettuce in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite my friends to see the lettuce in my hydroponic garden. Currently, the lettuce that I am planting in my hydroponic garden this time is about 32 days old after seeding. The conditions for this lettuce grow well and optimally, I am very happy with the current condition of the lettuce in my hydroponic garden.

Lettuce is a unique vegetable. Lettuce is very rarely affected by disease or pest attacks like other vegetables. Because of this, I've always loved growing lettuce in my hydroponic garden. My plan is that in about 5 days I will harvest all the lettuce in my hydroponic garden, especially when I hear news that the price of lettuce is going up in the market.

To prepare for the post-harvest process, I have also carried out the initial process of sowing lettuce seeds in my hydroponic garden. I'm also trying to sow lettuce seeds from a new manufacturer that my friend, a fellow hydroponic farmer, recommended. According to my friend, this Anziel Lettuce can get a yield of around 100 grams for each netpot, while the lettuce I'm currently planting only gets a maximum weight of around 50 grams.

Mint Leaves Condition in My Hydroponic Garden

Finally, I invite my friends to see the condition of the mint leaves that I plant in my hydroponic garden. Currently, I have about 250 pots of mint which I grow using several hydroponic installation methods.

At the front of my hydroponic garden, I have a PVC pipe hydroponic installation with 130 planting holes. The growth of mint leaves in this installation is still very good and optimal. I have also harvested these mint leaves several times for orders at my online store. This pipe hydroponic installation uses a circulation system with an electric pump to help the water flow.

Apart from that, I also have a PVC hydroponic installation installed on the wall of my house. This hydroponic installation has 60 planting holes and uses an electric pump to circulate water throughout the pipe. The growth of mint leaves in this hydroponic installation is also very good, the root growth is good and the leaves look green and fresh.

Then, I also have a PVC pipe hydroponic installation with a dft system without water circulation. I combined two pipes and made it into a floating raft hydroponic installation. In this hydroponic installation, the mint leaves are also growing well but I noticed that there were some potted mint leaves that had discolored. Apparently, these mint leaves don't get enough nutrition so some of the leaves turn yellow. I immediately added fertilizer and hoped that the mint leaves would grow even better in the future.

Okay, that's all my story this time. See you in my weekly journal Hydroponics in the next week.
