I also thank my friends and all members in this community, for always getting positive responses and also very constructive suggestions since I joined Hive.

I am quite consistent in contributing to this community, every week. I love coffee, have worked as a companion and extension worker for coffee farmers, and also really like the ambiance in coffee shops. Because of that, I tried to make content related to my experiences and stories when I visited coffee shops. Check out the story of my journey at one of the coffee shops in my city this time.

Floc Coffee & Eatery

Some time ago, I visited Floc.co Coffee Shop, one of the local coffee shops in my city which is currently being talked about on social media lines. This coffee shop is located at Dewa Ruci Street no. 3 Medan Petisah District – Medan City. The location of this coffee shop is in a small street, like an alley, and uniquely this narrow street is a place for various cafes, coffee shops and food businesses. When I came here, I had a hard time finding a car park, and I turned around twice, finally one car came out and my car was able to fill the parking lot.

Floc Coffee uses a fairly spacious former office building. There are two buildings that are used as two places of business, namely a coffee shop and a bicycle repair shop. When we enter the entry gate, we are greeted by a 2-meter mirror displayed in front of the entrance. This big mirror seemed to be calling every visitor who came to do a mirror-selfie, the female visitors often took pictures of the outfits they were wearing that day and posted on social media. For men, this mirror can make sure we are neat and chamring before entering the coffee shop to meet other people.

One of the reasons people come to Floc.co, because this coffee shop is a comfortable place to hang out with friends, meet friends, or to work at a coffee shop. Floc.co provides various facilities that support this, such as a fast and stable wifi connection, indoor rooms with air conditioning, clean toilets and also small rooms, such as a prayer room for Muslims to pray.

Floc.co Coffee Shop carries an industrial theme for its coffee shop. Various interior decorations, a choice of monochrome paint colors, and chandeliers that really support the cozy atmosphere of this coffee shop. Indoor rooms from Floc.co are very neat, clean and also beautiful to look at. This coffee shop provides a wide selection of furniture and seats that are suitable for our purpose of coming to the coffee shop. I like the red sofa that is placed in the corner of this coffee shop, and also the choice of wood furniture used. In addition, two very artistic photos were printed very large and displayed in the room.

In addition to this indoor room, visitors and customers of this coffee shop can choose an outdoor space, especially if they want to enjoy a cup of coffee and smoke a cigarette. For many people, cigarettes and coffee are two things that cannot be separated, and are interrelated. These two expensive items will be more delicious when combined with a pleasant chat with our friends. There are two outdoor spaces that we can choose from, the first is the front of this coffee shop and the second is the inside of this coffee shop. The place is very comfortable, fun and also the proportional distance between the benches allows us to exchange stories without hesitation.

About Menu and Ordering System

Floc.co Coffee & Eatery provides several food and beverages (coffee and non-coffee) that we can choose from. The prices are also very varied and affordable for all people. Floc.co Coffee Shop carries the slogan "from farmer to brewer", which means Floc.co guarantees all the quality of coffee from coffee farmers and will brew every coffee with heart to be served to the customers of this coffee shop. Various familiar coffee menus such as americano, espresso, coffee latte, cappuchino, manual brew and also various other signature menus. For food menu choices, there are also rice boxes, noodles, and various other snacks that we can choose from.

The ordering system at this coffee shop is also almost similar to other coffee shops. We come straight to the coffee bar, order the coffee and food we want and then pay for it. One good impression I got from this coffee shop, the barista's friendly smile. He asked what coffee to order, if we were confused. He will recommend coffee choices according to the conditions we want, such as wanting hot or cold coffee, sweet or bitter, express, friendly taps are important for consumers, especially for people who are not used to coming to coffee shops, they may need to be guided and explained about menu choices.

Always Coffee Latte

The plan, I want to try manual brew V60 from this coffee shop, because I see the collection of coffee beans that this coffee shop has. However, I abandoned that intention, so I wanted to order a cup of coffee latte to accompany me. I want to see, what latte art this barista will make. This coffee shop has a slow bar concept, meaning that we have to be patient waiting for the coffee to be brewed and served to our table, because the baristas will often interact with the visitors during the brewing process. We often find the concept of a slow bar in local coffee shops that are not too big, we can ask about the origin of the coffee, the level of roasting of the coffee beans, the temperature of the water or anything, the baristas will answer in a friendly manner. Because of that, not all coffee shops want to apply this concept, because they need a barista who sees coffee brewing, is friendly to customers and has a love for coffee.

My coffee latte order came about 20 minutes later. This coffee latte is brewed in a Japanese-style ceramic cup, a cookie for the side is served on a wooden cutting board that has been engraved with the coffee shop's logo. It looks very beautiful, elegant and very luxurious.

I really like the ceramic cups used, although this cup motif is not commonly used for serving coffee, it is more suitable for matcha cups. The latte art of this coffee latte is also very unique, the barista makes a goose motif with steamed milk on top of the espresso perfectly. Just looking at it, I'm sure this coffee latte must be very good. I tried to sip this coffee and it tasted just what I thought it would be. Creamy and legit, maybe that's the word I can say to describe the taste. The espresso tastes just right and the milk is very creamy and milky. Make this coffee latte feel very perfect in the afternoon.

For me, Floc.co is not just an ordinary coffee shop, a very good cup of coffee latte, friendly baristas and also a comfortable coffee shop atmosphere makes anyone happy to hangout with friends or spend time here. This is my The Coffee Explorer this time, see you next time.
