Vegetable Conditions in My Hydroponic Garden in Early August

Weekly Hydroponic Journal (1).jpg

Hello Gardeners
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy, finally given the time and opportunity to be able to participate again in the Hive Garden Community. As usual, every week I will try to be consistent in write about my activities in my hydroponic garden. So, what happen this week? keep watching my post this time.

In last week's hydroponic hydroponic journal, I talk about my complaint about a rat attack that destroy all the vegetables in my hydroponic garden. During this past week, I have done various ways to reduce rat infestation. I put rat poison, and as a result a few days later, we found lots of dead rats.

Finally, the rat attacks stopped and my vegetables could grow back properly and optimally. However, I have to stay prepared for the next rat attack on my vegetables. I really understand, if rats are animals that are very smart and always difficult to eradicate.

Condition of Pakcoy in Hydroponic Garden
Now, I invite my friends to see the condition and development of vegetables in my hydroponic garden one by one. For the first time, I will take you to see the condition of the pakcoy that I planted in my hydroponic garden.

In this period, I have harvested about 150 pots of pakcoy that I grow in my hydroponic garden. I did the harvest in stages, because the pakcoy I planted didn't grow uniformly. I took the bigger pakcoy to harvest, and got about 6 kilograms.

For the remaining pakcoy that I haven't harvested yet, I arrange all the remaining pakcoy in one line of hydroponic media. My goal is to set it like that to make it easier for me to provide hydroponic nutrition at the right level. For the remaining pakcoy in my hydroponic garden, I use a liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 1400 ppm. I try to use the maximum fertilizer concentration in order to get more optimal growth results.

Condition of Kangkong in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite my friends to see the condition of the kangkong in my hydroponic garden. This week, I have also harvested my kangkong which is about 22 days old after seeding. Kangkong is one of the favorite vegetables in the hydroponic farming system. One of the reasons, because of the duration of growth and also fast to harvest. I harvested about 6 kilograms of kangkong last Saturday and it was a good result when some of the kangkong in my hydroponic garden had been eaten by rats.

This week, I also transferred about 100 pots of kangkong seeds to my hydroponic growing media. During this period, I used hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 1000-1100 ppm. Kangkong is also showing good and optimal growth. We can see from the condition of the green leaves and the uniform growth of the kangkong.

Apart from that, I have also sown a lot of kangkong seeds to replace the kangkong that I have harvest. The seeding process is one of the most important processes in the hydroponic system. The sustainability of the planting system is very dependent on the preparation time for sow the vegetable seeds.

Conditions of Lettuce in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invite my friends to see the condition of the lettuce that I grow in my hydroponic garden. Lettuce is one of the favorite vegetables for me and maybe also many people in the world because it has a crunchy texture and is perfect for making salads. Lettuce is also like by vegetable farmers because of its easy maintenance and very minimal pest attacks. Lettuce does have a longer growing season than kangkong and pakcoy, but the selling price is also very good.

During this planting period, I have around 750 lettuce pots in my hydroponic garden. In my yard, I have 500 pots of lettuce with a planting age of about 18 days after sowing. I also use hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 600-700 ppm. The use of less fertilizer is also the reason I grow more lettuce than other vegetables.

The lettuce that I planted this time showed good and optimal growth. We can see it from its uniform growth. Apart from that, the condition of the green lettuce leaves also made me more confident about getting a crop like the previous planting period.

Apart from the yard, I also grow lettuce on the second floor balcony of my house. This week, I transferred about 250 pots of lettuce seedlings to the hydroponic medium on the second floor balcony of my house.

I set the water in hydroponic media with a concentration of around 600-700 ppm. In general, normal water has ppm ranging from 80-120 ppm. Meanwhile, lettuce requires 600-800 ppm for optimal growth. Therefore, we add hydroponic fertilizers in order to get the right ppm concentration for growing vegetables.

Mint Leaves Condition in My Hydroponic Garden
Lastly, I invite my friends to see the condition of the mint leaves in my hydroponic garden. In total, I have about 250 pots of mint leaves which I grow in various hydroponic installations in my house.

At the front of my yard, there are two PVC hydroponic installations used for growing mint leaves. If you see, there are some mint leaves that are damaged like symptoms of burnt leaves. I don't know what causes the damage to the mint leaves. However, from some of the info I read. If mint leaves experience symptoms such as burning, that's an indication of attack from leaf caterpillars.

I also grow mint in a pvc hydroponic installation that I install on the side wall of my house. Mint conditions here grow better when compared to mint leaves in other hydroponic installations. Mint leaves look green and fresh, even though I have harvested many mint leaves over and over again in the hydroponic installation. So, maybe that's all my weekly hydroponic journal this time. See you next week, and happy gardening.

Up to this time, I haven't started yet my plan of setting up a hydroponic. If I may ask, how much is the cheapest that I could spend on a hydroponic setup?
