Hi cinephile friends from Hive, I usually don't watch animated movies, not because I have something against them, I really enjoy them, but I couldn't explain why I don't have the habit of looking for animated movies or take them into account, unless they are recommended to me in an insistent way, as is the case of Ana and Bruno, a 3D horror and comedy movie produced in Mexico in 2018 and directed by Carlos Carrera, which was recommended to me by a friend.

Ana and Bruno tells the story of a little girl named Ana, who along with her mother is hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital by her father, there Ana encounters different people suffering from mental illness, but the little girl has the ability to see and interact with small imaginary beings created by the minds of the patients. Thus, Ana meets Bruno, a small green being similar to a Gremlin that leads her to meet a whole group of imaginary beings that inhabit the psychiatric hospital, and whose existence depends on the madness of the patients. Soon Ana starts an adventure with her new friends in search of her father, to ask him to return for her mother to get her out of that place, because she is tormented by an imaginary dragon that leads her to collapse, however, when Ana meets her father, she discovers something shockicng and must face and accept the unfortunate news, which finally ends up giving her more courage and strength to go to her mother's rescue.

This film shows us imaginary beings that are not as imaginary as they seem, because they have the ability to affect the real world, rather it is as if they were a kind of spirits or ghosts. This seems a parallel and interconnected world created by the minds of the mentally ill that intermingle and interact with the real world, where only those who have a touch of madness are able to see these beings.

For my point of view I think that this film tries to promote understanding, respect and tolerance towards the mentally ill, because their world although it may seem absurd to us, for them it is very real and often we can do little to get them out of there, so we must learn to live with their fictitious friends, their demons, and everything that represents their world.

Besides that, Ana y Bruno leaves a clear message, and that is that those who have passed away continue to live in our minds, and despite having left the physical world, they continue to give us support and strength to move forward, being able to manifest themselves intentionally in our dreams to let us know that they are with us and mitigate the pain of grief.

Some curious facts about this film, which can be highlighted, is that, according to Wikipedia, it is considered the most expensive animated film in the Mexican film industry with a budget of 5.35 million dollars, it won three awards for best animated film, and was nominated for best music and best adapted screenplay, as it is based on the novel, "Ana" by Daniel Emil.

I hope you liked my review, let me know in the comments your opinion about it.

Me gustó bastante.

Gracias y saludos, @ismaelgranados.
