Sensaciones

1000037189.png

Sensations

I know I’m not the only one, and if you’re reading these lines right now, do acknowledge that your ‘sensations’ are often very real.

It all began one night; I don’t remember the exact time, and it would be quite a lie to say I did, as I didn’t look at the clock at any point. It was a gentle caress on the crown of my head, a sensation of fingers playing in my hair; instinctively, my hand reached up to my head, running through my hair, perhaps looking for an insect, a spider, something that didn’t exist.

1000037185.png

I settled down and went to sleep, as that sensation was just that and nothing more. But what an absurd thought: there’s always more to the most mundane things. That incident was forgotten, or rather filed away in a corner of my brain, locked away under seven keys, as if to prevent it from surfacing and making me realise what lay behind it.

Following that sensation—which we’ve all experienced more times than we can remember—others followed: sometimes it was a stab in the back, a slight tightness in the calf, and on other occasions, strangely cramp-like pains in my feet. Although my unease didn’t stem from any of these sensations, it did arise from a strange pressure in my throat.

1000037186.png

I began to feel a chill down my neck, a constant pressure, and although I underwent routine tests and more in-depth examinations, everything came back normal. ‘You’re a healthy woman,’ was the refrain from every professional I consulted in search of help.

But those sensations, which were creeping up on me, were far from frightening me. There was no reason to be, but… was there really none?

The nights often became unsettling. The sensation of fingers tangling in my hair would make me jump out of bed with a start, switch on the light and turn the bed upside down, searching for spiders that weren’t there; but I knew there was something I couldn’t see or understand.

Until one afternoon, whilst washing the dishes, I felt a prick on my back. I grabbed the large spoon—the salad spoon—and held it up like a mirror, trying to see what was behind me.

1000037187.png

Paralysed, through a distorted reflection, I saw a strange, almost indescribable creature. I could see its hand—or whatever it was—touching my back, near my left shoulder, exactly where I’d felt the prick. Then that hand moved up to my neck and wrapped itself around it as if its fingers were endless. I felt the cold, the tightness, and, unable to move, with tears streaming down my face, I dropped the spoon and ran to the bathroom.

1000037188.png

Leaning over the toilet, I vomited, fearing I might even vomit up my very soul. There, lying on the floor, the tingling in my calves began gently but quickly intensified. With terror in my eyes and throughout my whole body, I went back to the kitchen and picked up the spoon; I held it up to my legs and there I saw tiny creatures fighting to touch me, clinging to my skin whilst their thin, long tongues licked me.

Those sensations, more common than one might think, are no mere coincidence. They are strange beings that cling to us. Why? I don’t know, and believe me, I don’t want to know.

1000037189.png

If you ever feel — or more likely, one night — that someone is stroking your hair, it’s not just a sensation: it’s a demon knocking at your door, trying to get in to take possession of your body.

The truth is, I don’t want to feel any of that, not having my hair tugged, and certainly not feeling as though someone’s trying to strangle me. But it’s true that I once felt a hand brush against my back, although I know that at the time it was a deceased relative. They say there are things, entities, that, for some reason, don’t actually enter you, but cling to you, and it’s very difficult to get rid of them. You feel lethargic, sluggish, as if life is slipping away. People have told me this after visiting a place haunted by troubled souls.

Is your story true? I don’t know, but it might bear some resemblance to real events. I absolutely loved the way you illustrated it in the style of an anime magazine. Really well done!! Big hugs!💗
